My kids want bean bag chairs for Christmas. Never bought them before, so I'm looking for guidance on where/how to find a good one and which ones to avoid. There has to be something between pottery barn and target, right? Kids are 9, 6 and 4, so not huge. Yet. Thanks! |

Lol my 9 year old asked me for a waterbed recently! ![]() |
I just bought some from Target last week. |
A bean bag chair is a pretty basic thing. Unless you want to blow a bunch of money, most of them are a bag with little tiny foam beads. And the kids will not care a whole lot about much else.
From there, you can find fabrics that are easy to wipe down vs. fabrics that are plush. My kids like the plush ones. http://www.target.com/p/ace-bayou-chenille-bean-bag-chair-lime/-/A-15301538#prodSlot=medium_1_3&term=ace+bayou+chenille |
Pottery barn. They hold up better than the ones from target ect. |
I bought an empty bean bag at BedBath&Beyond (around $20), then a bag of foam beads from KMart ($13), the beads are decent size, not those tiny ones. |
I bought one off Ebay new from a company that sells nothing but bean bags and it was excellent quality and a very reasonable price - lots of sizes and colors to pick from. A few years later I bought two from pottery barn that were crap and very expensive - I gave them to Goodwill less than a year later. |
I hate to admit that I bought one from Restoration Hardware (because it was the only fabric I could find that didn't offend me). It's held up really, really well, and I'm considering buying another because, franky, I love sit in it to watch tv sometimes and sometimes I have to fend the kids off. |
The RH look very nice. I was excited to find them there until I saw the price. OMG. The shearling must be fabulous. |
I saw these a couple of weeks ago while blog reading. Pretty cute and seemingly functional:

Aaah products. They used to be in Fairfax but I think they moved to Ashburn. Any way, you can send or drop off fabric and they will make to order. They also have have a big selection on their website.

Definitely overstock. |
We got ours for 20% off (though not the shearling). Still, I know it's kind of ridiculous for a bean bag. But at least we can keep it out in plain sight. |
