My turkey turned out moist, juicy, perfectly browned. Yum. Mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet potatoes, etc. All really good.

My flop: The gravy. I used too much butter during the basting process so the pan drippings didn't make good gravy. Had to use my jarred backup gravy.

I followed Martha Stewart's first time Thanksgiving menu this year and it was really good (and easy)

I was setting a piping hot dish onto a trivet on the dining room table and managed to accidentally touch and melt a little spot on the fabric of my brand new tablecloth .

How do you melt fabric? Plastic you mean?

Cooked my 14 pound turkey on a cookie sheet. Real flimsy. When I took it out of the oven, it almost ended up on the floor.

No. It's a nice, red holiday fabric tablecloth. There is a shiny spot where the hot casserole dish touched it. I put it in the wash but I'm pretty sure that the fabric actually melted a little. Didn't hurt the table - thank goodness!

Put too much salt in the green beans but my pies were super!

I'm due in a week and had this awesome idea to bake a caramel apple pie. I hate pie and have never baked one in my life and did it all from scratch.

The top and first half were cooked perfectly. The bottom was soggy, mushy, and not totally done. Everyone tried to say it was delicious and not make a big deal that it was disgusting, I excused myself to the bathroom and cried a little. I blame hormones.

Things turned out alright but I sure didn't feel like cooking today. Had to really force myself...

Don’t be so hard on yourself, pp. Pies are tough to make. Good for you for making it all from scratch. And, I have found over the years that most of my guests have not enjoyed the dessert at Thanksgiving because they are so stuffed from the meal itself. I am sure it was better than you think.

We roasted a chicken instead of making turkey. I accidentally turned off the oven while setting the timer, which I didn't notice until the very end. Oops. All the side dishes were great though, and I'm sure the chicken will be wonderful tomorrow with our other leftovers.

Too much cloves in the Pumpkin pie but otherwise I think the meal was a success. I was the 'To brine or not to brine' poster a few days ago. Decided not and was very happy with the result despite my nephew who said "Why did I get the dry meat"?
My filling was awesome.

My daughter made the best cream cheese pecan pie. A total success. The rest of the meal was great too. We smoked a turkey breast instead of making a full turkey. No real flops here, but I have had my share in the past!!

Turkey took twice as long as outlined in WholeFoods instructions. 6 hours vs 3 hours. Okay since everyone was drunk and lots of appetizers.

Sides were great--especially their sweet potatoe casserole.

My gravy separated despite my best efforts. I should have used less of the drippings; the flavor was way too intense.

But the turkey was fabulous. We brine and roast at 500 and it comes out perfect.
