The amount of trolling last night was crazy - I worked a late shift and got home at 4 and shot you a few alerts. Was it all one person? Could you tell from where? I like to think that kind if hatred just isn't present in this area. Wishful thinking, I know .

It was all one poster who is apparently an 18 year old student at NOVA (and seems to suffer feelings of inadequacy due to not being at a more prestigious college). He was posting through a proxy in Germany. I blocked that address, but of course he will likely just use another proxy. He has gone on similar rampages before, just not of that scale.

I'm not sure what your problem is. Are you denying that there are more prestigious colleges than NOVA? I am not saying that anyone other than this particular poster is having feelings of inadequacy, but this particular guy is. I've read his posts. BTW, I went to a community college. I understood that there were more prestigious places, but I was happy with my choice.

I don't see it that way at all. Jeff was denigrating a particular poster, not everyone who attends community college. Or, shorter: It isn't about you. Stop internalizing everything.

NP here. Dude, I went to a state school despite having perfect SATs and a 4.0 average. Not everyone is self-conscious if they didn't go to HYP. However, if this poster is, and Jeff states factual information about it, I don't know why anyone would get offended (unless they also suffer a similar inferiority complex).

Another NP. My kid will go to state from a magnet HS - great SAT, GPA, ECs. We can afford any college. However, kid wants to go for advanced degree after 4 years of college, and we (parents and kid) are determined that there will not be one cent in student loan. My kid will be in college for more than 11 years...and the one gift I can give to him is no student debt. And we have 2 kids. And the same will be for the other one. And we are solidly middle-class (300K HHI) for DCUM.
