NP here. Dude, I went to a state school despite having perfect SATs and a 4.0 average. Not everyone is self-conscious if they didn't go to HYP. However, if this poster is, and Jeff states factual information about it, I don't know why [i]anyone[/i] would get offended (unless they also suffer a similar inferiority complex).[/quote]

Another NP.    My kid will go to state from a magnet HS - great SAT, GPA, ECs. We can afford any college. However, kid wants to go for advanced degree after 4 years of college, and we  (parents and kid) are determined that there will not be one cent in student loan.  My kid will be in college for more than 11 years...and the one gift I can give to him is no student debt.  And we have 2 kids. And the same will be for the other one. And we are solidly middle-class (300K HHI) for DCUM.
