It was horrifying that Roe was overturned, but I hope those “they’ll never do it” voters now realize that the GOP has left sanity behind. They’ll do whatever they damn well please. If that includes banning birth control (unless requested by a man), allowing abortion (as requested by a man), banning women from voting, banning women from working outside the house in most jobs, they will find a way. Project 2025 sweeps aside democracy and allows the GOP to install a theocracy that the Leonard Leo types have been baying for.

+1. People really underestimate the lunacy coming from the extreme right and people like Leo. They have been emboldened by the success of their lies and their tricks, and they see no reason to hide anymore. They are coming at all of us with their bizarre self-flagellating hairshirt wearing cult crap.

With any luck, saner heads will eventually prevail, and Leo and his friends will be executed for their sedition and corruption and the ground they harvested salted forever.

Honestly, the people like Leo have done so much to damage this country. I think how much we’ve lost, time working on global warming and habitat loss, how many million dead around the globe from covid, women’s rights, people’s bank accounts under the GOP’s trickle down economics…

And now the media has moved on because this issue is so toxic for Republicans that they refuse to focus on the GOP’s stated promises.

I volunteered for this campaign (phone calls & texting from MD) and to even collect signatures, the organizers had to use clandestine tactics. So happy for the people of Missouri!

And yes Hawley is up for reelection and no, that seat is not flipping.

The Democratic Party all but abandoned MO, and most “red” states. They weren’t always red. MO had long history of progressive politics. But Dems let GOP overtake state and local governments and now everyone is paying the price. I volunteer to recruit folks to run as Dems in these neglected areas. It will take time to rebuild. A lot of time.
