ECNL forcing Brave & Union Partnership

This isn't the place for logic.

Union 10's are struggling but they would wipe Arlington 11's, I have not rooting interest just can't stand the u13 chest thumping

So when SYC spent all those years playing up it was fine? But now that the Arlington 11 parents want to do the same it’s wrong? This team has potential to go all the way and there are comments like this…support our local clubs!

It’s time to prepare for nationals now. Why not have a couple of the top teams in the area scrimmage each other to help prepare? Arlington has been crushing the local competition while the Union team is about .500 vs local competition. How can anyone just blindly assume that Arlington would get wiped? If Union were to crush them then it would be a wake up call for them.

Good luck to all DMV teams at Nationals. Let’s have a good showing.

Wrong the year before Union, U12 season SYC played 11v11 but not in replacement of something else. Why didnt Arlington 11's play up and play in an additional league last year, the year before ECNL? Missed opportunity and nothing but excuses now its sounds

I think Arlington 11s did play up last year and played up in every tournament that allowed it (WAGS does not for instance).

This is a broader point about whether local clubs should work together heading into Nationals to prep. People would have to put all their egos aside. If the Arl 11s get bashed, so be it, but it would help them do better at Nationals. Beating teams 5-0 doesnt help anyone prepare and it helps everyone in this area if local teams do well at Nationals.

Union 10 or VDA 10 would beat Arlington 11 5-0. How does that help any of the three teams? Arlington 11 should play Arlington 09, if they’ll beat everyone 10-0 in NOVA.

What about Beach? Arlington tied them. What about Richmond? That was 1-0. What about vda? That was 2-1 and is happening again on Saturday.

How do you know who would win and what the score would be? Playing against those teams would help Arlington immensely.

Playing against VDA, Beach, and Richmond does not come remotely close to simulating what they are about to face in Seattle. Based on the results of the last few weeks, scrimmaging the Union team may not be the answer either. Instead of letting parental ego stand in their way, Arlington is at least willing to put it all on the table.

Agreeing with another PP. The Union team should also be able to play against older teams in preparation for Seattle. But given their recent results do they deserve it? Yes, because the overall goal here is to send ALL of our teams out west prepared to win.

Have any local clubs had success at champions league recently?

What’s the difference between champions league and qualifying to Playoffs?

Win your backyard before you ask for more. Nothing in the Mid-Atlantic is preparing you for Seattle. Just hope you have a favorable draw, and that your kids understand how much fun it is to progress in a major national tournament. Anything else is just arrogance at worst and delusional at best

Champions League = Playoffs. All the other "qualifiers" are playing in lower-level showcases.

If you go to the ECNL website and select post season under events - they have their post season structure, format and qualifications for Champions League, North America Cup, and Showcase A and B

Union 10 or VDA 10 didn’t even beat Arlington 10 5-0. Actually Arlington 2010 tied VDA and lost 2-1.

You guys talk about Arlington 2011 like
If they are FC Barcelona of Messi and Guardiola. Get back to reality, it is just a kids sport that nobody will remember once in college.

I don’t even remember who is in Washington Spirits roster, let alone some 13 years old team in Arlington. Remember it was Spain who won the last World Cup, not Arlington lol.

Let the kids enjoy their childhood and favorite sports while they can. Life is too short

ML listening to parents and it’s killing the team. The girls deserve better than that.
