Wrong the year before Union, U12 season SYC played 11v11 but not in replacement of something else. Why didnt Arlington 11's play up and play in an additional league last year, the year before ECNL? Missed opportunity and nothing but excuses now its sounds |
4 years later nothing changed they continue to steamroll teams and should be playing against 07s, right? |
11th place out of 13 teams and missing not just champions league, but the entire ECNL national event, in the most important year for recruiting. They could at least gotten into some lower divisions like Union. |
I think Arlington 11s did play up last year and played up in every tournament that allowed it (WAGS does not for instance). This is a broader point about whether local clubs should work together heading into Nationals to prep. People would have to put all their egos aside. If the Arl 11s get bashed, so be it, but it would help them do better at Nationals. Beating teams 5-0 doesnt help anyone prepare and it helps everyone in this area if local teams do well at Nationals. |
Union 10 or VDA 10 would beat Arlington 11 5-0. How does that help any of the three teams? Arlington 11 should play Arlington 09, if they’ll beat everyone 10-0 in NOVA. What about Beach? Arlington tied them. What about Richmond? That was 1-0. What about vda? That was 2-1 and is happening again on Saturday. |
All valid points. Again, its a broader question not limited to this team. Union 10s would benefit from playing older and different teams too. |
Union 10s have lost to 3 of their 4 NOVA opponent clubs this year. They should play the older teams at those clubs? LOL |
If teams need a challenge they can scrimmage older teams internally. No need to go outside of their club. |

Spot on yes this is a solution. Or, join an academy team where you will be placed individually on your skill level, and the team wins are just for club marketing purposes. Age/birth years is just the number they put on your player card and has no bearing on what team you are on |
Did you enjoy playing different teams in SC? How did that go? Results don't matter of course I'm only asking about the experience |
Coaches and clubs are lazy and don't have time to schedule more things. Most of these coaches have multiple teams to juggle and then try to have them practice at the same time/field for their own convenience. |
Yes, it was a good experience. I did not enjoy the length of the trip, they should do two games one of the days and no need to miss school either. One game a day starting on Friday is too spread out. The drive wasnt too bad but I like to drive compared to flying. |
Sounds totally worth it then, so playing up would benefit the team in what way? |
How do you know who would win and what the score would be? Playing against those teams would help Arlington immensely. Playing against VDA, Beach, and Richmond does not come remotely close to simulating what they are about to face in Seattle. Based on the results of the last few weeks, scrimmaging the Union team may not be the answer either. Instead of letting parental ego stand in their way, Arlington is at least willing to put it all on the table. Agreeing with another PP. The Union team should also be able to play against older teams in preparation for Seattle. But given their recent results do they deserve it? Yes, because the overall goal here is to send ALL of our teams out west prepared to win. |
