left milk on the counter for 4 hours

Anonymous
Husband forgot to put the milk back in the fridge after a 4am grab for our 2 year old. Found around 745. House at 66 degrees. Keep or toss? (I hate wasting a just opened gallon!)

Does it smell okay? If it smells somewhat off, it'll still be okay for cooking with, just might taste too strong to drink. If it smells really off, pour it out.

Just taste it. If it tastes ok it's fine.

If it was warm when you found it, I'd toss

It's fine. Once exposed to warmer temps for this long though it won't have a shorter refrigerator shelf life.

Unless it's unpasteurized you'll be fine.

Throw it out.

If it doesn't smell, then keep it.
