left milk on the counter for 4 hours

Taste it.

Milk tells you loud and clear when it's gone bad.

Even if it's unpasteurized, it's still fine.

Who has unpasteurized milk these days?

I have a friend who studied nutrition in nursing school. She said sour milk tastes bad but there is nothing in it that will actually make you sick.

Cheese, yogurt, sour cream, and cottage cheese are all products made from milk that has "gone bad." Lots of dairies use their "bad milk" to make ice cream.

It's not going to hurt you.

Pasteurization changes the equation somewhat. But I agree that milk left out 4 hours in a not-hot house may or may not taste good but it won't hurt you.

Lots of people go to good lengths to get raw milk straight from the farm... Yum! Best stuff ever!

use it up quickly. It will go bad faster than it would have if you hadn't left it out. Make pudding or something.

It is completely fine.

The nutritionist is correct that it cannot harm you at all.

If you still have it on the counter, it's probably no longer fine. It's been like 36 hours since your post.
