What's the deal with Robert Griffin III?

Anonymous
Hi. I'm a guy who is not a big football fan, but kind of follow the Redskins. If you are a knowledgable football fan, can you explain to me why Robert Griffin III is having so much trouble? I can't reconcile him being a Heisman trophy winner and having trouble scoring now. Thank you.

He has many problems I don't even know where to start. His skills that served him well in college do not work at pro level. The defensive guys are just too fast. Other than that, he can't read plays well, he can't stay healthy, his throw is off... On top of all that, he has made some stupid comments off field. I have to believe he is done in DC.

He cannot make his reads or anticipate where the receivers are going to end up. He also fails to scan the field for open receivers and often just locks on to one guy. Plenty of articles about his troubles are out there...

I think there is a transition from college to the NFL ...... and RG3 is having difficulty with that transition in terms of what is involved playing professional football.

I would not write off RG3 yet but I would say that unless he can make that transition and adapt he is likely not going to last. He also does seem injury prone and that does not help.

Yes, I'm sorry but RG needs to go, I'm afraid.

He's too good for this miserable team and this city.

You keep saying good. I do not think it means what you think it means.

funny, but let's be realistic here. In a shitty system, with shitty leadership, RG3 has not been developed well as a QB. There was too much early emphasis on being a star, and too much buddy buddy with owner, and too much conflict with a shitty QB coach (who happened to be the son of the head coach). His injury was poorly handled, and that's being generous.

He'll have great success someplace else and it'll be another coulda woulda shoulda for the shitty 'Skins.

he is stupid, he doesn't put in the work to develop the skills needed at the higher level but let's really look at his attitude that is propped up by the owner........

The last Heisman trophy winner to make the leap to the nfl was........Carlson Palmer in 2002 so that is not a guarantee you can make it to the next level and be successful.

but at the end of the day it comes down to being able to understnad the nfl game and he simply can't do that.

So, it's all someone else's fault right?

Yup, if you look at the history of Heisman winners in the NFL, it's more likely that they won't do well than they will.

RGIII is not stupid, but he needs to bulk up so he's not so fragile, he needs to throw away the ball instead of taking so many sacks, and speaking of sacks, the line is performing terribly.

I didn't say that. HE was too buddy buddy wit the owner, and he played into the star thing, and he played a role in the injury and rehab, too.

But you can't ignore the facts - the Skins are a sit storm and have been for a long, long time. hey've sullied the reputations of more players, managers, staff than any other team in the league. The curse of Jack Kent Cooke. The real curse of Daniel Snyder.

1. owner needs to go
2. gm needs to go
3. rg iii needs to go

then we can talk rebuilding... until then, the deadskins will continue.
