| I thought it wasn't, but now I'm confused. |
| No. School is in session. |
| How does that work? It's a federal holiday, DH gets it off, but the kids go to school? Weird. |
| Thanks. It's one of those holidays where sometimes it's a holiday, sometimes it's not, depending on your company, or school I guess. |
It's never been a holiday in FCPS. Just because it's a Fed holiday, that doesn't mean school is out. I taught in MD for about 8 years. We never had Columbus Day off, but in VA, we do. |
DH is off and kids are in school - wee! We're going car shopping in peace.

Well, FCPS just had last Mon & Tues off so another day a week later would be pushing it. Like a PP said, I grew up with Columbus Day off but always going on Veterans Day.
If the kids are in school and you're home, enjoy the solitude! |
The dual federal families I know LOVE today because they are home and the kids are at school. Tell your DH to enjoy! |
| Of all days that should be celebrated, this is definitely one. |
I always wondered why more people didn't complain about FCPS not giving this day as a holiday, but I think this is the reason! |
Arlington has off . We are dual Feds who would love to send the kids to school today.
|
Yes, as a fed, this is one of my fav holidays.

The schools are open, but SACC's offices are closed (just called, hoping to set up an online account). Even though the people who actually take care of the kids were there at the crack of dawn this a.m.
I ponder these things when the school board comes begging for more money every year. |
| They observe it more in school than if it were a day off. |
|
No.
But they learn about it in school. Our school is having an assembly to honor vets today. |
