I need a new roasting pan, so looking for recommendations.

What are you roasting? I mainly roast my chickens on a broiler pan these days...for pork tenderloin and beef products I usually do in a dutch oven after browning on the stove-top.

OP here. I'm looking for one for a turkey.

I like my All Clad roasting pans, but search around for a sale or an overstock. That retail price ^^^ is nutty.

I got the straight-sided one last year for $119, I think. I'd have trouble paying more than that; I've seen other quality brands online for less.

All Clad, but they can be pricey, but you can definitely find a better price than Williams Sonoma.

One of the most popular roasting pans over the years has been http://graniteware.com/product/americas-favorite-roaster

OP here. Call me cheap, but over $100 for a roasting pan? That thing better last the rest of my life! Are they really worth it?

A roasting pan is a really basic thing, and you use it just a few times a year. I have a basic one I bought at Target, I think. It holds the roasting rack, which holds the bird. The bottom provides a perfectly find surface for catching the drippings and making gravy. What more is there to a roasting pan?

That's the thing about roasting pans, some don't heat evenly or scorch, so an all clad is definitely worth the money.

Sounds wasteful, but I always buy the disposable ones. I don't have room in our tiny house to store things like that. They work just fine, IME!

I got this roasting pan a few years ago for $27 on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0001UZW2K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's not available right now, but I'm sure you can find something similar. Stainless steel is fine, you don't need All Clad to get a good result at all.

I have a Calphalon roasting pan that's been used at Thanksgiving and a few other times a year that is fine. Similar to this one: http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/calphalon-classic-nonstick-165-roaster-with-roasting-rack?ID=206565&pla_country=US&CAGPSPN=pla&CAWELAID=120156340000021855&catargetid=120156340000975597&cadevice=t&cm_mmc=Google_Nongender_PLA-_-Google_Nongender_PLA_All+Products_Google_Nongender_PLA_All+Products-_-56066256489_-_-_mkwid_q1dFxUAy|dt_56066256489%7C-%7Cq1dFxUAy

Spending $$$ on an All Clad roaster doesn't make a ton of sense to me (and most of my pots and pans are All Clad). You don't need to spend it on a roaster IMO.

How exactly can a roasting pan SCORCH food when it's not in contact with the food?! The rack is the thing that contacts the food, especially in the case of turkey (which is what OP mentioned). And things not heating "evenly"? This is for your OVEN, not the stovetop (presumably your oven is heating food evenly regardless of cookware since the heated air of the oven is what's cooking the food rather than a cooking surface as in stovetop cooking). Are you thinking of some other type of pan? Really, this comment is so bizarre...

YOu can use it for other things besides roasting a turkey or chicken where you need the juices to drip…., as in, use it without the rack.
