But the other spouse is not sick (yet) with something like a bad cold, what are your sleeping arrangements?
We used to sleep in separate rooms if one of us was sick, so usually the not-sick person took the guest room. This was an attempt to avoid getting the other one us sick. It was a pretty successful arrangement. Now we have as many kids as bedrooms and don't have the guest bedroom anymore. Last night, I took the couch because my husband was quite sick. The couch is not comfy. I am now thinking we really do need to create the office/guest room we've been talking about for ages. Do people still sleep in the same bed together when one is sick? Do you always both get sick? |
| We still sleep in the same bed. DH has the strongest immunity I've ever seen. He's had DS throw up all over him from the stomach bug and he didn't get sick. I used to have that immunity, then I had DS. |
| I'm sick right now. Same bed. He's not sick and hasn't complained that I've kept him up. |
| Not an issue. If we get something, it seems to come from the kids, not each other. Only once have all of us had the same bug. |
| The only time we've slept separately is when I had a really bad cough and was up all night with it. And I'm not a "shared marital bed or die!" sort of person. |
| We sleep in the same bed unless one person is disturbing the sleep of the other. |
| We still sleep together. Honestly I'd be a little upset if my husband left me to be sick on my own. But I'm a pretty emotionally needy woman. He's the same way. It's smart to sleep separate tho, makes sense |
| I take the guest room when sick because I toss and turn and keep DH up. No biggie. |
| same bed unless the sickness involves endless coughing, in which the other person will go to guest room. |

SMe room, but honestly, I would prefer separate. Often when I'm sick, I'll sneak down to the couch or similar when I can. I admit I'm a retreat when sick person - I just want to be left alone to sleep and heal, and to keep my germs away from loved ones.
DH on the other hand, has the same disposition as a slobbery Labrador when sick. He cannot be close enough. So I have to stay in bed and listen to him hack and snort just to keep him happy |
| We never seem to catch anything from each other and never sleep separately. |
LOL! |
| DH takes the guest room if either of us is contagious--and especially if he has a bad cold or illness. He is a restless sleeper and might be up in the night. |
you're a saint. no way would i agree to that! |
| DH is much more willing to be the one who sleeps in the guest room since we mounted a TV on the wall in there (I won't let him put on in our bedroom). |
