| DH and I are a looking for a nanny for our first child. I told him be can do the majority of the work ( putting up the ad, picking the girls we want to interview, and corresponding with them) so my DH did just that. I realized that out of the 8-9 girls we interviewed, majority were young and attractive. We ended up hiring a young 20's girl who while a little chubby, is cute. I'm not insecure and trust my DH completely. A few of my girlfriends mentioned that my DH probably liked the idea of handeling the process so he could pick " pretty girls." I started to get curious so I came here. If my DH ( and any men) take care of selecting the women, do they purposely pick attractive women vs. unattractive? Qualifications are most imperative, but would they rather pick an attractive vs. unattractive nanny to interview? |

| You know not all men are the same, right OP? |
|
Wellll if I were in the process of selecting a male nanny (I'm attracted to men), I'd probably pick the best-looking ones too, provided their childcare qualifications were as good as the less handsome ones.
So there's that. |
I realize that and that is why I am asking to gain prospective from men. I even asked if the girls looks play no part in it? |
| If you chose not to be involved in the interviewing and selection process, why are you troubling yourself about this now? We are all biased toward attractive people, OP. Numerous studies have shown this. |
Uh.. |
I was involved in interviewing every candidate, but not going through responses and selecting nannies to interview. I'm not " troubling" myself with it. I'm plain curious on men's opinions. |
Did you ask your DH? And did he have photographs of the candidates before choosing them for an interview? |

In general pretty girls smell better; I want my house to smell good when she's there.
So yes, I'm going to look for pretty girly type girls to watch my kids and make my house a nice guy place to come home to. I'm not picking a good looking girl to hit on, but hey, did you see Arnold Schwarzenegger's cleaning lady? She has absolutely zero appeal, yet one of the most famous well built men in the world just had to have her. Security is an illusion; pretty or not you've either got trouble on the way it you don't. You have no control. |
Majority of the women were attractive. That is what prompted this question. Yes, he was able to see the profiles with the candidates photos on them when choosing who to select for an interview. I know qualifications are most imperative but if a man would choose the more attractive over the not so attractive, to interview. |

| Pretty girls smell better? How bizarre a comment! While I doubt anyone has done a scientific study, I doubt it's true--it's just in your mind that this should be the case. Ugly or pretty girls both try--they both use deodorant and lotions, etc. |
Girly girls use product, lotion, perfume, makeup and other stuff that likely results in a pretty silage. |
| DH here! Speaking for myself and most guys, hell yes we would want an attractive nanny! Now I wouldn't cross the line but a bit of eye candy never hurt anyone. I'm almost positive unless your man is gay, he chose attractive women who were qualified over unattractive. What man wouldn't want a hot little thing bouncing around with his kids? Honey " we shouldn't hire that young woman. She is attractive and I much prefer old and haggard." - Said no man ever!!! |
