Looking for Kimchi in Bethesda

Anonymous
TJ's stopped selling kimchi and I've been craving it. WF has it but it doesn't taste right. Any suggestions? TIA

I'm Korean. TJ kimchee is horrid. Too vinegary. Sorry, if you liked it. Don't mean to offend. Go to Annandale and head over to a Korean grocery store, like Hmart or Lotte. There's also a Lotte in Gaithersburg. There are a few smaller family owned Korean grocery stars around. Probably can find them on google maps or something.

Lotte in Germantown or Hmart near Lake Forest mall.

Some Safeways and Giants have small jars too. I don't know how theirs taste. Give them a call?

There's a new guy at the Bethesda farmer's market that sells pickled stuff--pickles, green beans, sauerkraut, etc. I sampled a bunch of his stuff and it was awesome.
I didn't see or try kimchi, but when I got home, kimchi was the first thing listed on the card he'd tucked in with my order. I think he was an Asian American guy; though a lot of his stuff was midwestern pickle recipes.

I think they may have kimchi at The Fishery in Chevy Chase DC. The store seems to be Korean-owned.

Here's a press link from their site. Sounds like it's a Korean-American family busines in Arlington.

(I'm not affiliated; I just really liked the pickled red slaw and beans I got.)

Oh no! I have to admit that I love vinegary taste. I love Hmart but was looking for something a lot closer.

A bit out of your way, but Seoul Food in Wheaton (yes, inside the Exxon) has excellent kimchi.

I love No. 1 Sons! I haven't tried their kimchi, but I love both their District Dill and Half-Sour pickles. I like the Dilly Beans too.
