Serve or toss? Refrigeration question

Anonymous
I made a pumpkin "cobbler" - similar to pumpkin pie filling with a crunchy cake top for work. Finished it about 11:30 pm last night and left it out to cool at room temperature. This morning it occurred to me that I really should have refrigerated it. It was only left out about 7 hours total, but my Google searches say it's important not to let homemade pumpkin pie-type items sit out for more than a few hours because of mold. I don't want to risk making anyone sick. WWYD?

Well, I was at the market at Butler's Orchard yesterday, and all their pumpkin baked goods (made there, not pre-packaged) were sitting out at room temperature. In the grocery store, pumpkin pies made in-house sit out on displays unrefrigerated - probably for days. After just 7 hours, I think you're probably totally fine taking your baked good to work, OP.

Throw it out. You don't want to risk making someone sick.

I'm a total food safety fuss pot and would assume this is fine.

I have never refrigerated pumpkin pie.

Ok, thanks so much! I am a food safety fanatic and get overly anxious about this kind of stuff that most people wouldn't even think twice about.

It will be fine.
