This. Went for a basketball game recently and didn't recognize the town I knew in sprawl that has become DuramChapelHill. |
| Almost every college campus I've been on has been pretty amazing. The exceptions are some city schools that lack a real campus, but that's more about my personal preference. Clearly, plenty of kids find those schools exciting to go to. |

Recently toured all the ivy schools, one full day for each. Yale and Princeton are the obvious two outstanding in terms of campus beauty. Saw many pictures of the two schools before, but were really awed by the in-person visit. One should pay them a visit and walk the ground yourself to feel the sensation if these schools are on your mind for application. None of the other campuses can quite strike one with this unusual feeling.

In my view they are something like this: Princeton - nicest overall Yale - best architecture Cornell - best setting (on a nice day) Dartmouth - second best setting and an LAC feel Harvard - interesting location, but campus doesn't really come together Brown - eclectic, but not really distinguished Columbia - nice central area, but you've got to like urban Penn - some nice parts, but not notable overall |

There are some nice "flyover" / mid-western campuses:
Chicago IU Notre Dame Kenyon Colorado Washington University Rice Northwestern Iowa State Grinnell St Olaf Carleton |
I’ve visited all the Ivies except Cornell and Dartmouth and would agree with that assessment. The energy of Harvard Square is what distinguishes Harvard but the beauty of the Yale and Princeton campuses leaves more of an impression. |

Wow, really butthurt about your alma mater! |
| Dartmouth and Wellesley |
actually my alma mater is in another country ... but find the natural campus of UCSB gorgeous .... and unique ... |
| I agree with the prior posters regarding University of Wisconsin. And the best farmer’s market in the country too. |
While some of the architecture is absolutely hideous, the FEELING of the campus is beautiful. It’s hard to put your finger on, but the nature, the ocean, the plant life, the students biking around, the air…. something about it creates this feeling. If I was a student, I’d love to go there. |
Now THIS is a good one. Never heard of the school. Looked it up - so pretty and unique. |
| I would definitely add the University of Richmond to this list. |
Agree, it's beautiful. I also love the UNC Chapel Hill campus. |
