Kane from Kaneshow divorcing and crying on air right now (Part 3)

She was told not to bring up the Flint water situation again. And that lends support to a discrimination suit.

Danni got a side gig on tv, and that made Kane feel outshined. He raised a big stink about how her new gig was adversely impacting the show and set the wheels in motion to push her out. She filed a lawsuit based on discrimination, and now they are locked in negotiations for a settlement with a big payout.

Why anyone continues to listen to Kane is beyond me. He's no longer young, and he was never hip. He can no longer play the family guy role since he's divorced. He's too old to play the bachelor without looking desperate and creepy. His remaining sidekicks are talentless and boring. His entire show is fake, and everyone knows it. So why do people continue to listen?

is this fact? doesnt seem likely. i dont think kane could ever feel outshined by her. she has a pathetic commercial gig basically. if anything was adversely impacting the show, it was her lack of dedication and commitment

Agreed. They originally said Danni was going to be the face of TLC, host red carpet events, etc. Up to now she has done none of that, and what red carpet events does TLC even do??? I guess they could do something for the White House correspondents dinner in late April/early May since it is in DC, but if she does not, then that was really overstated or they don't see her as any valuable asset. The most noteworthy thing she did was spilling the Duggars coming back to TLC, which she was not even supposed to do.

She is purposeful, but she always irritated me as she stands up for these causes for like 1 day, then forgets about them and moves on to the next hot topic so she can lead the charge and get attention.

Some Examples
1) She was all in to the water situation in Michigan for like 2 days, then never mentioned it again.

2) She constantly stated that she went back to her real curly hair because she wanted to show her kids that it is important to be real and natural, and then posts photoshopped pictures.

3) She said she was taking the TLC job to make extra money for her kids college tuition, and then brags about buying a BMW that needs high end fuel, blames the nanny again for letting the car run out of gas while they are driving it, then begs listeners to bring her gas at the side of the road (but remember only 93 fuel is accepted!).

4) Asks listeners to give her money for her cousin who she never met's headstone, then never followed up that the money was used for the cause. I wouldn't expect or want a picture of the grave, but at least something to show the donation went to the cause would have been nice.

And notice the trend on blaming the nanny for things (the fuel, the dammmn danielle thing)...She is just a total contradiction of herself constantly.

This. This.... Is everything I haven't been able to put into words properly.

How do you know she was told not to bring it up again? Not being argumentative, I genuinely didn't know that happened.

What's the discrimination? This effected anyone living in Flint. There is no discrimination to it. Kane also agreed with her when she mentioned that it was a horrid situation and still is ongoing now.

If you listen to the Hey Frase podcast they say that station heads usually don't want you to talk about serious issues, especially on a top 40 station. Because it can "divide" the audience.

Add to the fact that this is still in the news now, she is not on the show, but still doesn't bring it up. If it was truly a cause of hers, she could freely discuss it now.

They rarely ever talk about what's going on in the world. And if they do its very sugarcoated "everyone is right no one is bad".

You forgot about the MONTHS AND MONTHS of breastfeeding/pumping talk, all ended with her being named some kind of ambassador to bring awareness to breastfeeding from some government agency.. only to never speak about the issue again.

The last day Danni was on air (the day where they cut the show halfway - Feb 10), Kane reminded Danni that he once bought her a breast feeding pump because someone stole hers at the office. I forget how it came up, but she just brushed him off and was like "I know".

The show Peanut Butter used to work on "Bob and the Showgram" was not your typical top 40 AM drive show. No music whatsoever, Bob frequently lets us all know his opinions and has been suspended numerous times for pissing off a handful of people. In fact, you could say the Showgram is more like Elliot than anything else.

But I forgot, corporate thinks Kane listeners are stupid so we should only talk about who the Kardashians are fucking this week or who Miley Cyrus snorted coke off of at Waffle House.

I don't think Kane felt outshined by Danni, Kane had a gig with NBC I believe and every single day before they announced Danni was going to be with TLC, he was like "can I tell them today Danni?". He hyped it up. Saying she was going to be the Ryan Seacrest of TLC. Please...

What I think happened is that they got fed up with Danni being irrational, loud, emotional, and her missing so much work.

Danni was slowly breaking down.

Also the fact that Intern John doesn't like Danni. Kane knew this, and when a argument broke out with Danni and Kane, Kane chose to deal with it.

I've been a listener since 2007 when he started, and remember being so excited to download the Podcast during the summers and catch up on what I missed, and once Rose popped up is when I lost interest. I just think that everything went downhill once all the stuff with Natasha went down. I was thinking of how right before all that happened, he was bragging about his ratings - have we heard any more about that since he discussed the divorce?

Think about this.

Mark and Kris were on 99.5, they got canned, Kane comes in.

I know people have said he brings in advertising dollars, but this is radio, one of the riskiest businesses out there, so the entire show could be gone. As others have said, this is a PR nightmare, and enough time has passed for iHeart to come up with a plan to do something.

Of course, nothing could happen, Danni leaves (well, it gets announced) and life goes on.

We're Mark and Kris #3 in the market when they got fired? I highly doubt it. No one is going to dump the highest rated morning show of that genre over this.

Similarly to Kane who does score #1 in some demos when the numbers are released, Mark and Kris claimed to be #1 in their main demo (women 18-34). They probably were telling the truth. This was the statement released when they were fired:

Statement from Mark Kaye: http://www.markkaye.com/
"As of today Kris Gamble and I are no longer on the air at HOT 99.5/WIHT-FM. We were informed after this morning's broadcast that our contract was not being renewed. We are still processing this surprising turn-of-events. Summer 2006 was our best ratings period ever. We are Number 1 with Women 18-34 (Hot 99.5's Key Demographic) and had a 9.0 share overall. While we are baffled by the decision of Hot 99.5's management, we respect that it was theirs to make. We look forward to bringing our Number 1 Rated Morning Show to a new outlet soon."

When they got fired, the program director was someone who had previously worked with Kane, and iheart (Clear Channel at the time) probably saw Kane as a younger, hipper person to bring to a major market. If you recall as well, Teapot Tim, who was Mark and Kris' version of the sidekick, but older, left the show a few months before when his contract expired.

I think that is when Samy came in as I believe he was on the show prior to Kane. If I recall, he was referred to as "slacker samy" before just becoming Samy. Maybe there is hope John can lose the Intern title one day then as well.

What happened to Mark and Chris? Do they have a show somewhere else? I only started listening to Kane after they canceled The Bert Show. I listen to Tommy mostly, or whoever is not playing Adele at the moment.

Mark and Kris ended up in Jacksonville on WAPE starting at the beginning of 2007. After a few year, Kris left the show amicably it appeared to move back to DC. Mark stayed on is rather successful and has just added new female cohosts since.
