ECNL moving to school year part 2

I think people in the business are saying "likely" because they all understand it makes the most sense to change. There are no good reasons to stay BY for youth soccer.

There are good reasons, especially perhaps in the short-term to cater to any demand from players/families who have played their entire careers in the BY system and still do not want to have their teams disrupted.

The reason for the delay on both leagues is to not start the hysteria any sooner than it needs to happen. That’s the reason and it makes sense. Probably late Fall to announce

Nah. The reason for the delay is because they don’t know what they’re doing, they don’t know when they should drop the news, and it is easier to just delay and release crumbs to their clubs.

I’m not implying empathy. I’m implying the delay reduces the number of emails and questions from parents on whether their kid will still be able to play up next year etc. lots of headaches for clubs they prefer to delay.

And the sooner everybody realizes that the wheels on the teams will slowly start falling of in about Dec as players get a jump, the sooner everybody realizes the whole season matters even less than usual. Have to keep the band on the Titanic playing.

No, I was just answering a previous comment that took that hypothesis as valid.

This is the frustrating thing about all the ECNL people. MLSN and GA haven't said anything about switching from BY to SY. At this point its becoming clear that they intend to stay BY. If they wanted to do something different the plans would have been announced.

All that's going to happen if MLSN + GA stay BY while ECNL changes to SY is that they wont play in each other's tournaments.

Also, there would be an incentive to create a youngers BY league.

Someone already leaked an email from GA office they are changing age groups but the GA board has not approved them to announce yet. It was also announced publicly to all GA directors at their meeting this summer.

Yes I agree US Club, AYSO, USYS sanctioned leagues will be going SY with an 8/1 cutoff next year. They've all made announcements reguarding this.

Still dont know what GA MLSN or DPL plan to do. Im sure theres others as well that haven't made a statement on their plans.

That poster on SoCal forum is credible. They posted emails from ECNL about age change before it was announced. As well as posted before age group change was announced and was just a rumor. I don’t know what email you’re referring to and I’m from Southern California. In my eyes they are credible.
