Cory Booker Filibuster

Anonymous
Cory HAS dated women. Including some accomplished older women. When he was 36 he dated Oprah Winfrey’s longtime companion Gayle King, who was 51 at the time. And when he was 37, he dated Arianna Huffington, who was 56 at the time. The relationships didn’t last forever, and both women are in their 70s now. But he did date them. Don’t underestimate Cory’s star power.

You’re obviously implying that those women were beards. But that’s not true. While Cory, Gayle, and Ariana are each single now, all of them have stated publicly that they are heterosexual. There’s nothing wrong with an ambitious young man dating powerful older women. See Ashton Kutcher.

Democrats are grasping at straws for a leader. This is horrible.

The problem for Booker is the existence of Buttigieg. Who was two times more popular than Booker in the 2020 primaries. Elizabeth Warren was three times more popular than Booker, although she’s getting older. For most Dems, Booker is great, but not as great as Buttigieg. Maybe both guys could beat Vance? Maybe? But I don’t see how Booker could beat Buttigeig in the primaries.

Agreed. We’ve entered a fantasyland where we are thrilled by Booker’s awkward non-filibuster and the white lady awkward non-protests. We are desperate for any small win. So we say Cory did great. But do any of us, deep down, really want to be LEF by him?

No offense, but Buttigieg just sounds smarter than Booker when he talks. Vance also sounds smart. I think we may need Buttigieg. Or Warren. We don’t want our candidate getting beaten on the “who sounds smarter?” front. Being hoity-toity is our brand now. We don’t need our masters degree holding blue city folks acknowledging that Vance sounds smart or that our candidate sounds goofy. We need to lead with our best. (Yes, I know Cory Booker’s educational credentials are impeccable. But for someone who went to Stanford, Oxford, and Yale, he doesn’t come across as that intelligent or eloquent.

What are you talking about? Buttigieg has elite finesse in communication, but Booker is more eloquent and has better delivery than 99% of politicians.

Well put.

No. Not better than 99% of politicians. And not even in the same league as Buttigieg and Vance.

The Jersey accent and the corny repetitive canned platitudes don’t help.

To me he sounds like a complete doofus. I can’t believe this guy is a U.S. Senator.

Booker: Yale, Rhodes Scholar, law degree, senator.
Buttigieg: Yale, Rhodes Scholar, former military intelligence officer, mayor, Secretary of Transportation.

I kept Booker video on in background for the full 25+ hours. I watched/listened for much longer than expected. Much respect. Man knows the constitutional law!

He listed every.damn.thing Trump and his administration are inflicting on us. RECORDED! That was his goal. Can’t scrub it out of existence.

Some platitudes near the end. Could you keep speaking for that long without bathroom breaks or some form of nourishment? Thankfully, he had a consistent rotation of Senators and others who afforded him breaks from speaking.

B&B may run. I like both. I like Warren. I don’t think she’ll pull it off, especially if Harris didn’t

Vance ain’t happening.

I’m a big fan (from NYC) of GA Senator Jon Ossoff! I posted a video of him shutting 🐀cliffe down in the Signalgate thread. I think I created a cult following. Hope so. He’s got that Obama mojo. Ossoff and Warnock are best bros. They’re the first Jewish and African American senators in their state.

Not everyone on the Hill is an SOB. Why are we here? Mind is still boggled.

I am extremely skeptical of your post. Vance is not on par with Buttigieg. Booker is a skilled orator. Most politicians are not eloquent.
