The 2011 girls didn't invite themselves. Someone on the coaching staff must have thought this was a good idea. This starts with leadership. Poor decisions have been made for a while now without any checks.
This isn't about parents being embarrassed. It's about parents being pissed that the team wasn't placed in the best position to win. That could include inviting 2011s, not effectively preparing the team in the weeks leading up to nationals, not subbing effectively, not addressing glaring issues on the field that have been there a long time, there are more but take your pick. |

If you’re a 2010 parent mad about the results in Seattle, take it up with your coach and TD and stop complaining here. Parents always want to complain. It’s gutless to complain on an anonymous board and it’s not effective. You’re talking to the wrong people and all it sounds like is excuses.
But I do agree with the poster that said this 2010 VA Union team is the same team that came in second in the Mid-Atlantic bracket. So no one in the conference other than Charlotte SA has bragging rights over them. |
They have and its falling on death ears and they are hear for a release. Give them a break. |
| Get over it 2010 parents. Your kids have already moved on mentally; you should too. |
I heard that they invited the two to keep them happy because they have options elsewhere. The third who almost didn’t make the team has a sister on the 2010s who is v good which is how she made the team and got invited to go to Seattle so again keeping families happy. Politics as usual. Also heard both 2010 and other 2011 parents not happy with this. Would be interested to hear where the one player is going. FVU see what you have to look forward to? $hi+$h0w |
But this is wrong. There are other kids on the team that did not threaten the club and also have options to start on other ENCL teams. |
So what if there were guest players? Are you blaming the loses on the guest players? Listen to yourself. |
I heard that one of the best 2010 players is leaving for Bethesda. Not any of the 2011 players. Confirmed ✅ |
|
But they are not. Everyone knows this. |
No one on Union’s roster can start at Bethesda. Good luck riding he pine behind the girl who’s dad runs the Bethesda golf fundraiser |
You might be wrong on this. |
The 2010 Union team had a strong fall, but were humbled in the spring. A couple losses and ties to northern virginia teams. Pre playoff scrimmages weren’t pretty either. |
The rest of the Arlington teams flamed out or didn't even make nationals. Thank God for the 11s because the other years are miserable. |

U13 and U14 age mean nothing. U15 only good for a very very select few. You all need to grow up. Any of the teams spoken of can completely fall apart or completely turn it around before U16. Seen both happen. These girls aren’t fully grown until U16 and some even later.
I can guarantee you some of these U13/U14 girls are not going to be dominant when they are older. Happens every year here though. Parents of the U12/U13/U14 talking championships, college, etc and two years later the poor kid is 5’1”, skinny, and gets pushed off the ball by bigger defenders and somehow still tries to ball hog because little Sally still thinks she is a star. Some teams will have 3 or 4 of these players and the team goes from being one the best to well, pedestrian. This isn’t even bringing in the who ACL aspect. Remember Arlington 08s? Went from 1st to almost last in one year. Bethesda 08s were at the bottom 2 years ago. Loudoun 08s used to be below Arlington and not that good. Brave 08s were winless 2 years ago I think. VDA 09s were bad two years ago. Could go into older ages but I don’t think many of you would know. My best advice to you is to raise your kid as an unselfish team player. Selfish players who YOU think look good are not from a College Coach view point. Those are a dime a dozen. It’s the players that have high energy combined with high IQ that make everyone around them better, that is what your DD should be striving for. |
