Do you eat seasonally?

I admit, I was really despondent when cherries went out of season. i love summer fruit. but then pomegranates and spaghetti squash and honey crisp apples popped up and i am happy again. oh how i am enjoying my fall foods. tell me about your favorite fall dishes

epicurious garlic/rosemary pork tenderloin served with baked cinnamon brown sugar apples.
roasted butternut squash with browned bay leaf butter.
maple glazed brussel sprouts (recipe from one of last year's Yoga Journal---so good my kids devoured the brussel sprouts)

It's only really seasonal if you eat local produce.

I buy what's on sale at Whole Foods. On sale does not always equal seasonal, however it stands to reason that the two would align rather often.

I use Mark Bittman's seasonable fast cookbook for this reason. Lots of ideas for seasonal cooking.

I do for some things. I don't buy strawberries, blueberries etc, cherries and asparagus out of season and don't eat tomatoes other then cherry when the farmers markets stop selling them. I'm particular about how those taste. I also don't eat oranges in the summer but love all citrus in winter.

Mostly. I used plums from summer to nake jam we can enjoy through the winter. I freze summer strawberries for smoothies.

Just curious - are you overweight?

Yes I am getting ready for hibernation.

I eat daily. I'd be really hungry if I ate seasonally.

Sort of. Maybe best answer is I try, but I find it hard in winter.
We eat tons (literally I sometimes think) of strawberries, asparagus, tomatoes, peaches, melon, berries when in season. In fall I make loads of applesauce. I also freeze a lot of berries and fruit I pick in summer.
In fall/winter we do eat seasonal veggies, but I buy bananas, pineapple, grapes, and even strawberries because I have a fruit-loving child. Am sure none of those are seasonal, but then most would never be local regardless.

Yes, mostly because it's cheaper while it's in season (yay for butternut squash).

Yep - today I had some Candy Corn M&M's (you can only get them around Halloween) and M&M's also has some delicious Christmassy type flavors that should be hitting stores soon.

Love seasonal foods.
