We have hard wood in our kitchen. Currently we have a rug under the table. Do most people have this? I'm debating about whether it would ruin the floor to remove it. |
Never thought of this...we have a rug pad underneath the rug. |
I have this and a baby about to start solid food. I'm thinking I'd better remove the rug. |
We've been thinking about getting an indoor/outdoor rug for our dining area. I've read they are easy to clean. |
Yes. For baby get a plastic mat. |
No, my husband and toddler spill way too much on the floor. |
No. |
The night we moved from a house with carpeting to one with hardwood, my baby threw up all over the floor. I was so grateful for the hardwood! Also, I wasn't spending a half everyday cleaning up spilled food and drink from the carpet. |
We had a really inexpensive ($80 at World Market) rug under the table when DD was a toddler. It got disgusting. Now we have nothing but the chairs are damaging the floors some. They were damaged before, so we don't worry about it too much. If you skip the rug, get some good sliders on your chairs. |
No, I prefer to have a hard surface under the table so I can use the Dust-Buster after every meal to swipe up crumbs. Oh yeah, and cat hairs. |
No, too much to clean. |
Yes. Get an indoor/outdoor mat. When it's gross just hose it off and scrub a little tide on it. Comes out 100% perfect. |
We have one under our dining room table, but that doesn't get used very often. We didn't put anything under our kitchen table because it's so much easier to be able to sweep after each meal than lug out the vacuum. We put felt sliders on the bottoms of the chairs and our floors are fine. |
Yes. |
We have a flatweave kilim from Pottery Barn under the kitchen table. After 8 years and 3 kids, still looks perfect. |
