Parental phone calls

Out of curiosity, as an adult, how often do you talk to your parents on the phone if they are long distance from you?

I literally have no contact with my parents. Dh talks to his a minimum of once a week, but I think it's more like 2-3 times a week.

Once a week. Occasionally an extra call to coordinate if they're visiting. We also email a few times a week.

Now that we have kids, we do FaceTime with inlaws weekly. DH would go weeks without talking to them if left to his own devices. He is not a phone person. MiL also texts nearly daily.

I try to keep it to once a week for a chat, and call them on Sunday. My mother will up that by doing what she calls "checking in" with a phone call about nothing whatsoever. She's bored.

It changed as they aged. In the early years, we talked once or twice a week and gradually added to that as they aged. Now that my mother has passed (84), we try to Facetime everyday with my Dad (83).

A phone call on the weekend about every 2-3 weeks, sometimes longer.

Mom and I talk about every day for 20 minutes or so on my way into work. I talk to Dad a couple times a week. His hearing is going, so phone calls are harder.

Almost daily to either my mom or dad. They are abroad but we are in constant communication. With my siblings about once a week.

1x per week for both DH and I. Longish call perhaps 30 minutes or more. A few e-mails between me and mom during the week. With siblings..rare. Only when discussing and issue or planning something,

I talk to my mom a couple of times a month, but it's not kept to a regular schedule. We also email/text a fair amount. She and my dad FaceTime with DD maybe once a month.

My dad will get on the phone if he's around when I'm talking to my mom, but I usually only talk to him once every couple of months.

Before my mom died, we talked just about every day for 15-20 minutes. My wife talks to her mom once a week unless there is a reason to talk more often - a health problem or planning holidays or something like that.

At least a few times a week. Many weeks every day. FaceTime with both sets of grandparents once a week and on request, starting once DC was a few months old.

Usually once or twice a week. We exchange emails every couple of days as well.

H usually talks to his parents every Sunday. I have no idea if he emails them with any regularity.

Every other day almost. My mother is 90.

As a younger adult, it was once a week while my husband was calling his almost every day.

Our college kids are in contact every few days.

We text pretty much daily, and talk on the phone 1-2 times per week.
