personal trainer to lose a lot of weight

Anonymous
Bleh. I hate typing this but I have to lose over 50lbs!!! I've had 3 kids and let that take it's toll of my weight and fitness. I am motivated and want to do this but I think a personal trainer would be a big help for me to go after this daunting task. Any recs for someone that is sensitive to a fat mom in her late 30's that wants to be a fit and sexy mom once again? TIA!

Where are you based OP?

Andrew with fitness together in h street. I've gone to different personal trainers and he was the only one that actually listened and personalized a plan for my goals. Other trainers seemed to just copy the routine for their clients, which I saw. Anyway, heis great and will push you outside your comfort zone and is very encouraging. My goal was to build muscle and look good for my wedding and ended up losing weight. Seriously I can't praise him enough. If I could afford it I would still train with him.

The guy that posts on these boards, his name escapes me....but I have corresponded with him a good deal. He seems amazing. If I lived anywehre close to DC I would use him in a minute. Someone tell me his name, OP search it, and read the things he has written. He just seems to "get" the physical, emotional, and external factors that all contribute to what you need to do to lose weight, and he has a super positive and encouraging attitude. His handle might be Present Tense? Something liek that. YOu guys know who I mean don't you??

Yes, agree that Jason would be a great person to contact. Only know him from the boards but like his approach...

I'm not OP but in a similar situation! Any recs for in McLean?

You can't out-train a bad diet. That said, a good trainer can help keep you accountable. Make goals. Keep a food log. Review progress. Coaching 101 stuff.

This may be too far for McLean, poster- but see Rachel pike at crystal park sport and health.

If you're near a sport and health there's a personal training group called TNT fitness. You work out 2-3x week in a group focusing on strength training. Since it's a group it's quite a bit cheaper than one on one personal training. I lost a good bit of baby weight with them. Just started back last week as the pounds have crept back on...

OP, check out Orangetheory in the Kentlands. Group training but with a trainer. It was as good as a workout as I've had with a personal trainer and much more cost effective.

OP - I have lost 50 lbs in the past 8 months. A combination of weight watchers and working out at a sport and health did it for me. I do cardio 6x/week plus weights 4-5x/week.
If I skip the gym, I run 3-4 miles. I have also completely changed what I eat. I eat much less, eat healthier and drink a lot of water.
