PG County Schools?

Why does Prince George's county have a forum separate and apart from "Maryland public schools" #racist

I agree. What is this about?

Well intended, but still an AWFUL idea, IMHO.

The forum is not very active. So, I would be happy to discontinue it. It was originally requested by PG residents. Just let me know what you prefer.

BTW, being a sock puppet doesn't help your cause. It just makes you look silly.

Please keep it, Jeff! It has been so nice to be able to get answers from people in this county without the sniping "that's what you get for living in PG" kinds of responses that were more common when we didn't have a separate forum. The PG questions always got buried so quickly in the other forums and while it isn't super active here, questions do get answered and they don't get lost in the flurry threads like they used to.

I totally agree. Having it just slightly removed keeps most of the obnoxious people out. I may need to wait a day or two for an answer, but the response is actually helpful.

Yes, the small persecuted minority of DCUM thanks you for this forum.

It's nice to be able to ask questions, look for answers without having to wade through all of the "PG county is so full of crime and the schools are so bad, I can't believe any responsible parent would live there" types of posts.

+1

The reality is that there are more and more people moving to PG who are professionals that are concerned about their kids' education, but simply don't make a physician or attorney salary to be able to afford to live elsewhere. It's our reality and I love having a forum where we can discuss these particular issues. Please keep it!

Yes. The forum is useful for those of us in PG county who get tired of people's ignorant, knee-jerk comments about PG county/schools. Most of us are interested in real information/exchange of ideas about our kids' education and would like to keep it to that without having to defend our geographic choices.
Also, I'm not sure what's racist about having a separate forum. I suspect people posting in this forum are more mixed demographically than the other education forums.

I agree with the other posters in that its not super active like the other boards but questions get answered and its helpful to have a resource pool.

This forum may not get as much action as others, but I find it much more helpful when we really need to discuss something school related where we live than just about any other forum on here. Please keep it active.

Okay, it looks like everyone disagrees with the sock puppet. So, I'll keep the forum.
