And Harvard and Yale didn't make the list. Not putting down HYP, not at all! But they are not the be-all and end-all of post-college employment picks.
For a $600 billion company like Apple, there are other players in the game. Thumbs up to Apple! http://finance.yahoo.com/news/20-schools-most-grads-apple-153500378.html |
Choosing a school near employment hot beds is more important than replying on ranking alone. |

And to add, top schools represented at Google:

Someone posted a while ago whether to have their DC go to Cal or UMD for computer science. If your goal is to work in SV, then schools in CA is the way to go. |

I haven't played around with the tool but does it allow you to screen by function as well?
Apple (like MS) is a massive company that has wildly different recruitment practices for different teams. Funny thing about apple - the pay and benefits are no where near as nice as MSFT, GOOG, or FB. Jobs was a stingy bastard (like Bezos is). I interviewed at Apple once in pricing strategy - the people I interviewed with went to Penn, Brown, HBS, and Stanford. |
this is very true. |
Interesting to see the U of Illinois on both list. Will have to have DC add that to the list for a look see. |
UIUC is one of the top CS schools in the nation. |
San Jose State has also been named a top party school in the past.

Well, but most of the schools on this list are huge, with huge numbers of graduates. The percentage of San Jose State graduates who end up working for Apple may actually be smaller than the share of grads of, say, Yale, who end up working there.
I'm no cheerleader for the Ivies or the USNWR rankings (quite the opposite in fact), but statistics like these aren't actually as informative as they might seem at first blush. |
| what kind of jobs? engineers? project managers? manning stores? |
well that's just dumb; obviously all the schools on the list are clustered around Apple's headquarters in Silicon Valley. What? You think San Jose St. is now on par with Harvard and Yale because it has the most employees at Apple?
|
It still shocks me though to see the number of Ivy League grads who end up as paralegals when they graduate. How sad. |
| Why is the dream to work at Apple? That is for foreigners. Shouldn't the dream be to start your own company to rival Apple? |
Not the OP but get off your sanctimonious high horse. Nobody said San Jose State is on par with HYP. It is you who is drawing your own erroneous conclusions. The fact is that Apple has chosen these grads, and numerically are the majority alum. When you get $600 billion, then you can choose.

And which one is your company that rivals Apple? |
