I've cut coffee from my day, and like tea...but am getting bored with tea. What healthy, hot drinks do you like? |
Apple cider.
Or even apple juice heated up a little bit (just make sure it's good apple juice - not Motts or any of the other syrupy ones). |
hot water, whiskey (Irish!), slice of lemon with some cloves tuck in the rind. will cure the common cold. |
you can always mix up with different teas since chamomiles taste so different from black teas and green teas and chais. i like to alternate between coffee and chai and a fruity tea blend i bought at a specialty tea shop. |
hot milk with a teaspoon of honey. |
Anything as rich as coffee, besides coffee? I think I will try the chais, cuz the chamo will probably make me sleepy, right? Hot Apple cider sounds good too! Is there such thing as a healthy hot cocoa? |
I really like hot water with lemon. |
Cider vinegar, 2 cloves, and a dried porcini mushroom. Delish! |
What is your concern about hot cocoa? Too much sugar? You could try starting with true cocoa powder and adding whatever sweetener and amount you prefer. You would also then be able to use whatever milk or milk substitute you prefer. It's more work that way, compared to microwaving milk or water and adding a packet, but would have more control. |
i think chais (with milk) are sometimes even richer than coffee. |
Safeway has an instant chai mix. It's great with water and even better with milk! |
They also have instant hot cider mix - it comes in little envelopes (like the hot cocoa) and you just add hot water. It's not nearly as sweet as drinking hot apple juice (what the first poster suggested). But if you do want a sweeten it just add a cinamon stick. |
I know you said you're sick of tea, but DH and I really like green tea with a generous amount of lemon juice and honey. |
Hot milk with a little almond extract. |
I will always have green and black tea on hand, but just looking to add some variety. The chai with milk and honey sounds good...and yes my concern about coffee and cocoa was the sugar. I only like it the bad way...sweet and creamy! |
