A Fitness "Sitter" for someone who has injuries but needs to get (re)fit?

Anonymous
I wonder if this exists in human form? I used to be very fit, and have had illness and injury and allowed myself to slip to the gates of non exercise hell. I've gained weight, lost muscle and want to get back into shape without injuring myself further. I need someone to help motivate me, who is not going to injure me worse. Ideally I'd meet this person to hike the Billy Goat Trail, ride bikes, and other exercises in a safe manner. I want to be pushed and not injured. Why don't I do it myself? Cause I'm not motivated to do it alone!
Do such people exist? If so, where would I find them? P.S. I'm not rich, so I don't have a large sum of money to spend on this. Is this a doable goal?

Moms Run This Town is a free group where you can find running partners, including trail running partners. You can also hire a personal trainer.

The free option is a workout buddy since it sounds like you already know what you want to do exercise wise. MRTT is an excellent option. Always PLENTY of people planning runs at all levels/distances.

If you want to do more than just run link up with a friend that works out consistently or hire a trainer.

I have a dog that needs a lot of walking. On days like today (when it is cool and raining), her sad face makes me get out of bed and walk.

I'm in a similar boat, OP. I like a variety of things, but don't want to aggravate my knee, so avoid running but am able to hike/walk/bike. I hate running actually. So it's hard to find a buddy to do a variety of fitness activities, especially during the day when it is most convenient for me.

OP again. Thanks for your replies. I should have said that I have bad feet and can no longer run!

I have used trainers and none of them that I've used (3) really know how toodify exercise for injury. I don't find it as easy as just hiring a trainer!
