And why? We may have a sabbatical next fall, and I'm so excited I'm giddy! I also wouldn't mind splitting the time between 3 countries, 1 month a piece. Our 5yo will be traveling with us (we'll homeschool for those months) so overall country safety and accessible healthcare are important but everything else we can roll with.
Thanks for daydreaming with me... |
Ghana. Lovely people, good food, enough infrastructure and stability to be safe and comfortable, but different enough to be a real experience.
If you have to pay airfare yourselves, I would pick 3 countries in Europe - Spain or Italy, somewhere in eastern Europe and perhaps France or Switzerland.
Rural Italy. Get a taste of "la dolce vita" for a month, or two!
Sounding good so far! We will be paying our own way but I think we're okay with spending what we need to in order to make it a once-in-a-lifetime trip, which it most certainly will be.
I'd do Europe. Fall in Europe is great. I'm partial to the Alpine areas. I'd probably rent a place outside Munich, get a car and travel from there.
Australia. You'd actually have enough time to fly there and back and enjoy it.
Patagonia, lovely scenery and amazing people.
Italy. maybe France. I'd love to spend an extended period of time and immerse myself in learning the language. I'd be tempted to go everywhere, see everything but it might be nice to have one place for the time and spend weekends traveling here and there.
France, Italy
Brazil. Great food. Great music. Lots of history.
South of France, Switzerland, Brazil
What languages do you speak?
Toyko. Amazing city, tremendously fun and very different from the West -- Europe is sort of boring to me since it's so similar culturally to the U.S.!
Italy or France
