leftover biscuits

I made biscuits yesterday, and as much as I wanted to eat the whole batch, I thought it would be a bad idea So now there are leftovers, which never taste so great. What do I do with leftover biscuits?? Meatless, please. There's got to be something I can turn these into!

I split them, butter the inside, fry in a skillet butter-side-down until golden, and serve topped with fresh strawberries or home-canned peaches and whipped cream. Not quite as good as fresh biscuits, but pretty damned good.

Alternatively - break into chunks, toast lightly in the oven, and turn into a trifle.

Same as above, strawberries thst have sat in a little sugar to become syrupy.

What's a trifle?

I toast my leftover breads and then grind to make bread crumbs. Awesome for cooking.

Oh. Oh. OH.

JUST ONE OF THE MOST AWESOME FOODS EVER INVENTED.

You take some pound cake or sponge cake (biscuits? No.). Lay it in the bottom of a glass bowl and pour a bunch of sherry on top. A little smear of jam, too, if you are of a mind. Then fruit--my granny used canned fruit cocktail but I'll allow a berry mix to update it a little. Next, a layer of chilled custard. Then whipped cream. Top with grated chocolate. Let it sit in the fridge for a few hours before you serve it. Die of pleasure.

Just freeze them...take out and use for egg and cheese sandwiches. They freeze and thaw really well.

Pp here that suggested a trifle - true that it won't be a traditional trifle - perhaps I should have suggested "layer with macerated strawberries and custard and/or whipped cream for a sort of cross between a trifle and strawberry shortcake" instead of actually calling it a trifle. Either way, it's awesome (as is a real trifle as a pp described).

My ancestors thank you for your cultural sensitivity.

Leftover biscuits can be added with bread cubes to make bread pudding.
