| We are currently living in Alexandria but exploring moving closer to my husband's work in Herndon. I would love any insight on neighborhoods and schools (elementary- high as we plan to stay put this next move). |

Here's some information.

| They generally suck. |
| There are many schools in Reston. They run the gamut with regard to diversity and wealth, and as such, some may not be as highly regarded as some that are less diverse. I know people at just about every school in Reston, and all are happy and have chosen their school for specific reasons. (language immersion, small class size, neighborhood, etc.) |
Could you be more specific as to why? |
| They dont suck. Reston is a nice area even if the SES for different parts of it vary. The north side is a bit more uppity than the south side. I have lived on both the South Side and in North point. I went to Terraset, Langston Hughes, Herndon Middle, and Herndon High. They were all great experiences and I would have no hesitation in sending my children to those schools today. Granted, this was 20 years ago but I dont think much has changed. My younger brothers recently graduated with similar experiences. Good programs, safe, and I got into good schools. No complaints. |
I have no idea. It is what it is. |
| We are very happy with Hughes MS. Really impressed by teachers I met at BTS night. |
It seems you have more opinions than brains. |
You are mistaken. |

OP, for elementary school there are some really excellent options -- Aldrin and Armstrong in north Reston are the ones I know personally, maybe there are more that others can mention. It's hard to generalize because elementary schools draw from the immediate neighborhoods around them, and there's quite a bit of difference from one area to the next.
There is also an immersion elem. school - Lake Anne - and a "magnet" - Hunters Woods. I have not experienced the high schools yet, but depending where you live in Reston, it could be South Lakes or Herndon High. |
There's also a very small part of Reston west of Baron Cameron zoned for Cooper/Langley. |
| Reston sucks, lot of projects and section 8 |
