Brewer Yeast/pumping thread... same poster?

It's totally plausible it's legit, but given that I've never heard of using brewers yeast anywhere (and you can probably tell by my IP I've been around for a while), it seems fishy. I wouldn't like for anyone to get bad ideas based on a poster who is trying to advertise something rather than someone who has a genuinely good intention.

My mom drank brewers yeast shakes when she was pregnant with me and also when breastfeeding. She was vegetarian and super into health so she took it for the b vitamins and other nutrients. I remember trying it in high school mixed with juice, but it made me very gassy. I have also heard of it working to increase supply when added to oatmeal cookies. It is probably similar to the idea of drinking Guinness to increase supply. Both have a lot of b vitamins.

This is the pp who just posted. I just looked at the thread that you linked, and it didn't seem suspicious to me. This is definitely something that I've heard about from breastfeeding support group people as well as personal experience from my mom who had me in the late 70's. But for what it's worth, she was the only one I heard of doing it while I was growing up. She also used it on popcorn, but I believe it is more common to use nutritional yeast. Prob a hippy thing.

The poster did start a pumping thread, but I don't see anything suspicious about that. Strangely, given that I am no expert, I have heard of the brewer's yeast trick.

We just returned from another show. At least there were more than just the two of us tonight. It was a good opportunity to acquire some brewer's yeast, or at least a by-product thereof.

That's more or less why I thought it was totally plausible. The Irish have touted Guinness for nursing mothers for ages. Of course, I just flat out like Guinness, so I could be biased.


As I said, it just seemed a bit off. I didn't mean to go all big brother about it, so if you call it "all good", then that works for me.
