| My stylist is a low talker. I usually miss half of what he says. |
| I've been going to her for 2 years and she still asks me which side I part my hair after it has been washed and before she starts to cut. I'd be less annoyed if she simply guess and I had to correct her if she got it wrong. |
| Criticizes my hair. Yes,I am aware that I have thick hair |
| Honestly, nothing. I love him! |
| The wait. The fee. The non-stop chatter. Last time she charged me $500 for highlights, I walked. Best thing I've done in a long time. |
Mine does this too. |
I think this a standard question to ask. What if she guessed wrong and you weren't paying attention or what if you wanted to part it on the other side? Cut the stylist a break, you're not her only client. |

Every time I schedule a partial highlight she gives me a full and I pay for a full. I go in every 5 weeks and spend a lot on my hair, so when I want a partial I want a partial - the $$ for the full highlight really adds up.
I'm thinking of switching to someone else because it annoys me so much. |
$500 for highlights?? Are you serious? |

I hate the salon I've been going to. I've hated a lot of salons that I've gone to. I do not look forward to getting my hair done.
I'm in the Nova suburbs and what is up with all the pretentiousness? The strip mall salons are some of the worst. How do they manage to always find the nastiest human beings on the planet to work the front desk? Is it a law that hair stylists have to be loud. I'd love to find someone who listens to what I like regarding the length and color of my hair and just does the job. |
That's a sign that he/she doesn't know how to deal with your hair type. Run away! |
Dayum. I haven't had highlights in 5 years so maybe I'm out of touch but $500? Glad you left. |
That is so dishonest. That is one of my gripes. Several salons I've been to do anything they can to up the charges. I had one stylist say she wanted to do a couple of low lights in my hair - I had no idea what she meant - and next thing I know I'm getting foils. I had clearly told her I did not want highlights and no foils. We argued but she more than doubled the cost of the work she did that day. Most salons push foils/highlighting because they make so much more money off of it than a one process color. I never went back. |
I agree with this. I always feel like I'm not cool enough to be in the salon. I really hate that. Last time I just said, ya know, forget this - and I went to a place in the mall and paid $30 for a cut. No cool kids vibe, no ridiculous fees, I walked out happy. I'm way overdue for color, however, and I'm afraid of getting color at a Supercuts type place. Another thing, and I know this makes me sound terribly rude - I am usually really tired and I want to just sit there with my eyes closed. I do not enjoy the mindless chatter that I feel obligated to participate in. |
