Can't happen there's too many that earn a paycheck off the players hard work. GA + MLS would have to buy out ECNL then fire all of it's leadership. |
For those that are younger that don't have kids that either aged out or about to - Back in 2021ish ECNL revamped their website and removed the College Impact page which was impressive at the time. The last few years, when GDA became a thing, the ECNL number dropped hard ie from mid 70s/80s to low 60s/70s depending on the conference. This was a continual decline year over year for 3 years.
Now, league doesn't entirely matter for most. If you are playing good time on a top tier ECNL team you will be able to get the most looks. Now, just because 100 scouts show up at a showcase doesn't mean 100 scouts are looking to recruit you or anyone from your team. I would put the levels at: ECNL Playoff team - ANY GA Playoff team - ANY ECNL Showcase A - Winning, yearly invite GA Showcase A - Winning, goes between playoffs and Showcase A ECNL Showcase A - Rest ECNL Showcase B - Winning, yearly invite to A or B GA Showcase B -D/ECNL Non-Showcase mid conference USYS/RL Playoff team Everyone else |
Why would two competitors merge? The only time that happens is if one is not able to sustain it's business. Judging by how both leagues are growing by adding more teams($) we are nowhere near that stage. Even if they did merge, another competitor league would pop up. It's called free market capitalism. |
That's pretty much how I see things as well (kid plays on a playoff GA team).
One thing to note is consistent playoff level clubs have connections into colleges that are completely independent of the leagues. What this means is the top clubs will get players into colleges no matter what league they play in. |
Yes, and merging is part of free-market capitalism. |
Even GA playoff teams are tier 2. You are correct, those clubs do have connections but if you watch your clubs college commit list you'll find that many of the colleges are tier 2 as well. Nothing wrong with that but if your goal is college, if you're playing in the GA, your daughter will be looked at as a tier 2 player. If she's able to make a top tier ECNL Team, with their connections and status she'll have a much better chance statistically to not only play college soccer but to have many options in the recruiting process to where she can select the institution that fits her needs. That's the big difference between the two leagues. |
lay off the coke bruh. the gap between ECNL and GA is too big. stop with this GA stuff. lmao ga hats out trying to equate things. |
hello now. there are only around 15 GA teams that ECNL would take. |
truth.. |
This is all in your head. Colleges don't care where a player comes from as long as they're a standout. |
Not with how they are expanding |
winner of most ignorant comment of the day. |
There are at least 40 ECNL teams that wouldn't finish in the top half of a GA conference or Top 1/3 of an USYS NL P1 conference. |
They took Los Gatos United………… |
Have fun playing with that turd. |
