Soda stream?

Anonymous
I've been holding out for a long time (anooother appliance?!) but I drink 2-3 big bottles of soda water every day and I think I'm wasting money.
Tell me why you love your soda stream and any cost savings reasons why I should get one. Any tips too!
Thanks!

I have one and use it nonstop.

That being said, I got mine for free (friend gave it to me) and even getting it for free I don't think I'm saving money. We just like not running out of soda and not having to lug bottles home. It does taste like offbrand soda.

OP here-- i just want it for seltzer water, not flavored sodas. does this still apply?

Yes I think it might be cheaper for just seltzer. I go through a CO2 cartridge about every 3 months and they're only $15 at bed bath and beyond.

Have you looked into the fridges that dispense seltzer water? I despise seltzer water, but could see that coming in handy.

Reason #1: I no longer have to lug or store cases of soda water. It's worth it for that alone.

Completely agree. I drink 1 liter of seltzer water a day and I haven't even run the numbers on whether I'm saving money bc I don't even care... it's SO NICE not to lug all these bottles home from the grocery store.

I have yet to find a good place to exchange my cartridges, so mine sits on the counter unused for months at a time.

we go through one bottle every 2-3 weeks

I've have one in my closet, been there a long time. I buy the Giant 79-cent, 2 liter sodas, instead.

We use it daily to make sparkling water. I don't know if we save money, since we drink a lot more sparkling water than we would if we had to buy bottles at the store. But it's really great. $15 for CO2 is a total ripoff, but it's the easiest option.

I only drink "fizzy water" (not soda). I love love love my soda stream. Instant and seemingly unlimited fizzy water, which you can make slightly fizzer than the store bought stuff.

And being able to add in the flavours on the few times you want them is very cool too.

I agree. I use it for seltzer water, DH has coke and diet coke equivalent, and sometimes I buy a crystal light one. We also buy the small sampler packs for guests. Love, love, love mine

I exchange at Bed Bath & Beyond and use the $5 off coupons that come in the mail so it only costs $10 for the refill...

I am on the fence for this as well. I drink a ton of seltzer but I'm not a fan of single use appliances.

I would lover to buy one but they run a factory on the West Bank. Can't justify their slave wages.
