| Previous aide got job in his field after 3 years with DC. School has been looking, but nothing has fallen into place. School starts Tuesday! Around 5-5 1/2 hours/day so would be a great job for a grad student. Pay is decent, job is usually pretty easy. Anyone? Any thoughts? |
| You don't state any specifics like what the aide is expected to do or even why your child needs an aide. |
| Don't laugh but I posted a job like this on Craigslist and had an insane response - hundreds of resumes. I was able to weed it down and find someone phenomenal who has since been hired as a sped teacher. |
|
I don't post specifics because I don't want to blast my personal business out there, even on the SN forum. If someone knows someone who is available for a job during school hours, could work with a kid who has SN, and could get to NW Washington, that's a good start. Then I can share more info as appropriate.
Thanks and I hope maybe someone knows someone. You never know! PP, the school had put something on Craigslist before. I guess no one quite fit the position, not sure. Thanks for the rec, though. |

I would do your own CL posting - be general. That's where the young people are looking for jobs.
If you hope this forum will provide leads (I'm not sure how realistic that is), I would at least post a contact email address. |
| Why not contact graduate schools of education and social work directly? They may be able to connect you with good possibilities. |
This. You may have to get a morning/pm person if you get a grad student. Also maybe try care.com. |
| My babysitter, who cares for my son with special needs in the afternoon, would be interested. My son is at a special needs private in NW during the school day so this could be a good it |
| Can you provide an email address to respond to you on? I am a certified middle school teacher with special needs experience. |
|
Problem with a grad student is the short time colleges are now actually in session. Maybe look for a Mom who has kids in school and would like to return to workforce and needs some recent experience with time off when here kids are off of school more or less, too or just a part-time job. You could also post such a job via the Career Offices at any of the schools - American, Georgetown, or GWU. |
Wow, that could be a perfect fit. It's dcmusicteacher at gmail.com. |
Yes, please! It's dcmusicteacher at gmail.com. |
| Not being snarky in any way, but why are you required to find your own aide for DC? Isn't this something the school should be providing? |
Not OP, but she did mention this was a private school. Unless it is an SN designated school like Lab or Kingsbury, you have to provide your own aide. |
| She's probably paying for the aide so that's why she has to find the aide. Good luck, OP. |
