Assume that DD's allowance would include some money for transportation in/around her college just outside big city where public transportation is nonexistent and cabs aren't great. Would you set up an Uber account (as she requested and "everyone else" has one)? I guess I'm most concerned about safety. |
Is there Zipcar around the campus? |
She doesn't need your permission. |
None that I'm aware. But I don't want her driving around in the city or late nights. |
Um, she's a grown up. Let. Go. |
Do they let 18yr olds set up their own accounts? Most rent a cars require you to be 18. |
Uber is not a rental car service. |
We got it for our DD - she is a junior in college. We were concerned about safety as well - thing is that college students tend not to travel alone. She has said that she never used it by herself. She claims that it helps with rides to and from the "library" late at night - yea, right. LOL |
soinds like she wants mommy and daddy to take care of her costs because everyone else has it that way and they cave to that.
So pony up mom and dad or like many college girls in a big city they will get a sugar daddy to take care of them. |
I know it's not a rental car service. I just used that as an example of a situation where you had to be over 18. Does anyone know if 18 year olds can set up their own accounts with Uber? |
Let your daughter figure it out. If she needs your assistance she will ask. |
Have you always hated women? |
LOL! |
There have been a number of sexual assaults by Uber drivers. There's another thread going on this topic. I would have thought Uber would be safer because the driver is tracked by Uber but apparently not. |
I just looked at the Uber sign up page. All it appeared to need was name and credit card info. BTW, DD reports that the girls Uber together and the driver splits the costs among all the passengers. |
