How does one wear low rise jeans?

Anonymous
Okay, I'm newly thin and wearing low rise for the first time. Am I supposed to be pulling them up every ten minutes? Should I be wearing a belt? What about when you sit down...is there a trick to keep your butt crack from showing. How far down on your pubis are they supposed to be?

You didn't buy the right size. You should never have to pull them up.

One doesn't wear them if you're having that kind of problem.

Agreed.

I found some low rising pants, but had to buy them two sizes BIGGER than what I normally wear because the butt area, I think, is geared to no-butt type of gals. The front should come up right under the belly button (although that is a rather relative location).

A belt does help though.

And no, your pubes should not be showing.

PP you just made this mom of 3 laugh out loud - so true!

Agree that the front should come almost up to the belly button. If it does this, it should stay well above the crack. The top of the panties... maybe not, though. Bend over with some discretion.

wear a long shirt and your low-rise pants should not come up to your belly button. who is posting on here--steve earkel??

LOL! That last one was funny. Low rise apparently means different things to different people. As a member of Generation Y, low rise means much lower than my belly button, my work trousers hit just below my belly button, not my low rise jeans. The key is to get a pair that fits and flatters your body. There are so many brands and fits out there you just have to keep trying jeans on until you find the ones for you. You should be able to walk, crouch, sit, bend over without having to pull your pants up constantly. A belt really is not going to do anything for you with low-rise jeans, it is really just a fashion accessory. Since low rise jeans should hit at or around your hip bones, the widest part, a belt cannot keep them from sliding down and if you wear the belt too tight, you'll get muffin-top.

What brand are they? You might have gotten a low low-rise. You really just have to go someplace like Nordies and try on a bunch of different brands of jeans. There's a big difference between say Seven For All Mankind (and even within that brand!) and say, Rock & Republic. Also, measure from the crotch to the top of the waistband in the front of your jeans (the front rise). Some are as little as 7" (ultra low) some are 8" (mid) and 8.5" (moderate). Anything 9" or more is considered high waisted. I find anything less than 8" to be a fight to keep them on, to keep them up, and to keep your butt in your pants.

Plus, don't get 100% cotton jeans. They stretch out within an hour of putting them on and then you're pulling them up all day. Get a pair with 1-2% lycra to keep their shape.

Good luck, and keep trying on different jeans until you hit the right body shape.

ok- I was an almost up to the belly button poster... I just measured mine at 8 inches. Yes, you can get lower rises, but within the general framework of low rise, cracks ought to be covered.

When you try them on, get a back view as well. Avoid the muffin top at all costs. And teenage girls are the worst offenders! Youth is not a cure-all.

What do you mean by "newly thin?" To wear these jeans well, you have to be tone - no flab hanging over the pants. So unless you've got the body of an anorexic model or a buff athlete, these jeans are not for you.

Not true. You don't need to have the perfect body, but you should not have belly flab. Low rise jeans can be flattering on lots of different types if you buy the right size and wear the right top. The OP definitly bought the wrong size. My low rise jeans are far more comfortable than any other jeans I own and I am never pulling at them. They also didn't cost a fortune - got them at target.

You should wear HOT PINK THONGS that stick out inappropriately whenever you bend over, but everyone will be secretly jealous b/c they will think you are getting it every night.
