Since DC is Military Town USA, I suggest a new forum for military families. Lots to discuss related to moves and assignments, military resources, insurance, support etc. |
As has been the case for a while, I am reluctant to start new forums. But, this idea has some merit so I won't reject it out of hand. I'll consider it for the future. If others could weigh in to support the idea, it would help. |
Out of area (Miami) lurker who would love a military form/subforum. We are an AD familiy relocating to the area next year and so far I've been using DCUM to begin my research.
Thanks for considering the idea! |
Former military family that has been on DCUM for years. I'd say that there haven't been a large enough number of military-specific posts to merit a separate forum. Most, not all, but most posts that reference military could easily be applicable or answerable by non-military people in the area.
Fine for Jeff if a military forum allows him to generate more revenue, but I think it'd be a pretty small population that benefits from it. |
Excellent idea. There are many family and child-care/education situations that are very specific to military life. This could be a real service to those who serve our country in uniform and of interest to others. |
I agree. i think it would be helpful. |
My husband was active duty and then switched to reserves, and I have been on DCUM since the 2nd year it was founded. I think most questions could be adequately answered in the forums we already have and folks would reach a broader audience. |
Dc is military town USA???? |
How is it that the military doesn't have this already? |
I think it would be helpful, but would call it: Military Family Support to make clear it is not the spot to complain about every political issue that involves the military and to try to avoid military-bashing. |
I think San Diego more accurately fits that description. |
My spouse just retired from the military, I've been on DCUM since 2010 or so, and I agree. |
There are 10+ military bases within 25 miles of DC..not to mention over 30,000 employees at the Pentagon and thousands and thousands of veterans in the region. I can't think of any place in the country with more military employees and residents.
That being said....a forum would be a welcome addition in my opinion. |
SAN DIEGO... |
According to Wikipedia, San Antonio TX's nickname is "Military City USA" |
