As a starting place, would you consider putting a "military families" sticky on the general parenting forum directing anyone new to the area to check out the "playgroups and meetups" forum? That way you could (maybe) tell if there was a significant uptick in that particular forum's visitors to see if it's worth creating a new forum?
FWIW, I have a friend (the DH) who is career Navy (went to HS together and have kept in touch), and the family moves often. I'm sort of friends with his wife, and while the bases do have socials, contacts, etc, she has said many times it's hard to make "non-military" friends because of the need to move so often. Having a connection to other people who are looking to get together may work well. Or it may not... I can't possibly speak to the experience of every military family based on one single person! ![]() ![]() |
