Public service

It’s a public service like using a vibrator is public service. Satisfies no one but yourself.

I’ll have what she’s having.

Pssst....many people are satisfied by grammar corrections.

The few people actually satisfied by grammar corrections find little satisfaction in anything else. They are also annoying posters.

Nah, we’re pretty great. 😁😁

+1 million.

No need to take it so personally, grammar slobs.

Further proof of how annoying these posters are.

The " In Europe" posters in general.

No there's a Brussels poster that is super helpful on rando topics. But I believe she's American

No, that's not what I mean. I don't mind the genuine tips for travel, moving, and even just the contrast in cultures, it's the condescending everything is better in ( white) Europe o posters that annoy me. Same for the posters that deem anything better as long as it has a European label on it.

In the college forum - people who post about how successful they were applying back in 1991. Annoying and completely unhelpful for those of us with kids applying now.

The posters in the beauty forum who do nothing but disparage pretty much any treatment and are also clueless.

"Botox lips" is a favorite.

But the same ones like to chime in on posts about treating acne with, "I wash with Dove soap only and have never used more than that and I am 68 without a wrinkle on my face! I look 30 and have never had a zit in my life!"

Want to know about covering grays? "I never cover my grays, I have gorgeous hair and my husband and everyone else says covering grays makes you look PATHETIC!!"

Breast implants, "we can ALL tell you have them and you look like a bimbo! You wanted a B cup? You're going to look like Pamela Anderson!"

You want a pair of classic black pumps for your business formal law firm office? "Women shouldn't have to wear these for work! I'm an artist and haven't worn anything but Birkenstocks for 25 years!"

"I have terrible varicose veins and thinking of sclerotherapy, any experience? Is the pain bad?" Reply: "Have you tried coconut oil?"

Just an incredible mix of unhelpful, uneducated, and go downright nasty.

The poster(s) in the relationship forum who make posts like they are 16 years old:

Should the guy be the first to say I love you? Will he be turned off if I say it first?

He texted me he misses me, how would you feel about that?

We've been dating a week, he texted me that he likes me. Is this too much? Should I end it?

I'm sure pps know the posts I'm talking about.

The posters who made it impossible to have any non-political conversation about Covid. Yes, completely agree that it was handled poorly, but sometimes I just wanted to have a more science based convo or a more "this is the reality" based convo but it was nearly impossible due to the posters who made it completely political.

Anonymous wrote:HHI of ONLY $500k+ posters.

+1 and posters complaining about DH's low income (between 100 and 500)

I love this thread. I also love DCUM.

I’ve been on this forum for years, but I feel like the posts have gotten meaner of late.

I even started a thread in the Jobs forum, then 8 pages later, had to ask Jeff to remove it, because people were accusing me of all sorts of bitchy behavior and making wild assumptions and it just got out of control.

People just should ask themselves if they are responding kindly, or if they would say what they are posting to a friend’s face.

Oh, you reminded me of one. The $300-400-500K a year HHI posters crawling all over the "are you middle class? Come on in" thread, because they are under the illusion that the fact that they've made the choice to be house poor and/or to pay $40K a year for multiple kids in private makes them middle class. So gross.

I am the PP from above who reports posts and I agree with this. I feel like I am reporting racist, sexist, etc. posts more frequently than I used to. Plus just plain mean ones.

And to the whiny PPs above, no, I will not stop. I like DCUM and don't want it overrun by nasty trolls.

I don’t mind when threads and posts are reported, but I wonder if some folks go too far.

I often wonder why my Marriage & Farts thread disappeared. I was genuinely curious about the topic, and people were being pretty candid and respectful. Then poof (no pun), it was gone.

Yes some reporters do go too far, and then people comlain about how slow the board is and it's the same topics over and over again. Sometimes a bit of controversy is a good thing.
