Maybe the answer is simple. They've been in the top 4 of a competitive conference every year since 2018-2019. There are definitely kids on St. Johns varsity from clubs other than Achilles. It's not a pay to play situation and you conspiracy theorists and vendetta holders should save your time. I hope the person who inquired followed advice and ignored the commentary.

Claiming a top 4 finish in a supposedly competitive conference is misleading. High school soccer, in this context, is far from being truly high-level or competitive. If it were, the coach would have been replaced long ago, given the lack of tangible success. In genuinely competitive programs, mediocrity isn’t tolerated. While there may be players from various clubs, it’s clear that the Achilles kids are given preferential treatment. The notion that critics are merely conspiracy theorists or people nursing grudges is absurd. The idea that people are claiming others have a vendetta because their kids aren’t good enough for a consistently underperforming program is nonsense. No one from SJC or Achilles will speak out against this, because many are satisfied with the current situation—it’s exactly what they signed up for.

just saying something is clear, or absurd, or nonsense doesn't make your assertions true. Neither does your conjecture about how people make their decisions. You would do well to look for the easier, more likely answers to this thing that's bothering you so much. It is a consistently successful program. And, most importantly, like you point out, it's just a high school athletics program at a private school. Achilles is just a club. Get over all this. Your hypersensitivity and hyperbolic phrasing make your argument even less credible. What's your theory, then, as to why he's still the coach if the high school isn't successful and the administrators shouldn't be happy with his performance? Do you pretend to know their motivations like you pretend to know the parents at Achilles motivations?

It’s important to recognize that the claims being made are based on personal experiences with the club. Many have witnessed these coaches' behavior firsthand—seeing them lose control, using foul language, and treating kids with complete disrespect. The F-bombs are just the tip of the iceberg; these coaches are punitive and vengeful to an extreme degree. Its how they roll and it won't change. Their house their rules.

Instead of ridiculing others for sharing their truthful experiences, maybe take a moment to consider that these are valid concerns. If you're okay with your kid enduring what many see as vile abuse, that's your choice, but don't dismiss others for speaking out about it.

As for the "consistently successful" claim—successful how, exactly? Stop it you know thats not true. After trying to belittle parents for sharing their experiences by calling them hypersensitive, you now reduce the issue to "just a club"? Everyone is very aware of their motivations; we've seen and know how they operate. This isn't just conjecture; it's based on whats been observed repeatedly.

So why, again, is he still at St John's?

The school is either unaware of what’s happening or is deliberately ignoring it. Since it’s their school, they have the authority to do as they please. I suspect both the club and the school are benefiting financially from the situation. If they were truly interested in running a high-level program, they wouldn’t be anyone’s first choice. Just stop the BS about they are high level coaches that have been running some elite program for years.

Come on. You can do better. I know you've thought about this. Why would a school continue to employ a coach if he wasn't successful in their eyes? They are his employer. Like you said, "the coach would have been replaced long ago, given the lack of tangible success." How would the school benefit from the club if, like someone [you] charged earlier, they're giving scholarships to keep players at Achilles? The school doesn't have any trouble attracting students. It's not good enough for you to say they don't know what's happening. They see the record. They see the games. They see the coaching. You said he should be fired based on all those things. So what is it? You're a creative person. Come up with an affirmative reason for why they continue to make the choice to employ him. If you think it's money, please explain how you think that would work.

Achilles FC offers SJC scholarships to players as a way to lure them into joining or to keep them from leaving for other clubs. Haven’t some players already left because of this?

It’s clear that his employment isn’t based on being a great coach or running a successful program. So, where’s the evidence of this supposed extreme success? What’s the actual record, and where are the championships to show for it?

We know the reality—playing at Achilles is a necessary evil. I can pay my way to get the team I want and ensure the coach holds back other kids for the benefit of mine.

Right. It is a successful program that is consistently at the top of the league. Nobody said extreme success but you. And you're not answering the question as to why you think the school benefits from his employment. My easy answer is, they think he's a good coach and the team has a good record. St. John's knows him, sees the record, sees the coaching, etc. If his employment is not because of his success at the thing they pay him for, then why do you think they employ him? The scholarship argument to keep kids at Achilles doesn't make sense, because it would cost the school money. Why do you think you know better than the administrators of the school?

I think you're just frustrated because people don't see him the way you do, and so you direct your confusion and anger toward Achilles parents, MLS Next, and St. John's. Why can't they see how "toxic" he is? How can he still have a job as a high school coach? Why would people let their kids play there? Why do they let Achilles be in the league? Don't they hear "the F-bombs"? Don't they know the coaches are "punitive and vengeful"? Don't they see them lose control? Don't they know how they hurt me?

This situation has become absurd at this point. Your arguments are all over the place. This club has had the same issues for years, as people have consistently pointed out in this thread. What people are saying is accurate—everyone knows it and has seen it firsthand. Yet, parents continue to send their kids there for the reasons I’ve already mentioned. It’s their decision, not mine. Stop trying to create a false narrative that everyone sees through. The claim that “they don’t see this, they don’t see that” is laughable—it’s daily behavior for these guys. These two can’t escape the truth—everyone sees them for what they really are.

Suggesting that it would cost the school money is completely ridiculous. The school hands out athletic scholarships freely as a selling point—they have a have boosters and allocated funding for this. Let’s be real—Achilles faces a mass exodus every year for the same reasons. If he didn’t rely on these questionable practices, he wouldn’t have a club.

You can’t argue with this: Achilles is a necessary evil for many of us. I can pay to get the team I want and make sure the coach holds back other kids for the benefit of mine. It’s just the reality—take it or find another place to play.

This jerkoff has Sal living in his/her head for a couple years now. Imagine be so alone that you are compelled to log on to this site and spit venom about a bunch of kids. Who, by the way, really enjoy the program.

"LOL, that's exactly how he speaks to the kids in the program —no venom, never directed at the kids. My observation is about the deplorable behavior of the adults in charge. The blame should never fall on the kids, yet you guys are the ones blaming them for your failures. If they truly enjoy the program, that's fantastic, but you know what people are saying is true.

Layoff the appletinis girl!

The Achilles toxic culture is real lol. Parents posting gripes and coaches responding to it with insults is crazy. Hunger Games FC

No. One person. Perpetually triggered stay-at-home with a martini start time at 10 AM each morning.

“It’s happy hour somewhere!” Tee hee hee.

No way. I know Achilles is bad but your trolling saying they lost to Beadling

Hey easy man! Leaving the name calling and insults to your kids at practice. I didn’t think they actually lost to beadling. Sorry
