For us it was ice storms of Feb 1994. The amount of icy precipitation during the 93-94 winter was crazy. Stil considered one of the most destructive winters on record.

We definitely extended the school day when I was in middle school which would have been 1993 or 1994. It was so pointless and nobody really got any more instruction because each period might have been 2.5 min longer. I'd rather do that than go extra days at the end of the year when everyone is absolutely checked out.

Agreed. But will the state allow it now?

What are these predictions? I heard about the possibility of snow Thursday.

I would assume so. I don’t think it’s warranted but MCPS has this policy of if there’s a bit of ice on a road in Damascus that every other kid in the county must also miss out on a day of education.

+1 and now they don't even open offices or child care anywhere in the county if there is a bit of ice on a road in Damascus

Wasn't it Sunday, not Sat? Likely schools won't open early next week either if it snows Sun

A little bit of ice? I live off of 27 in Damascus and we went sledding down our street as it looked no different than the grass. We are not plowed yet. And the street is snow and ice mixed but some of the larger neighborhood roads are sheets of ice.
