He knows how it is supposed to work, he just doesn’t care . Going to do it his way.

And he was installed to destroy us.

This speech from Carney is incredible.

It is a powerful speech delivered by a sane man. Frankly, we should consider becoming Canada's 11th province or its 4th territory.

Why did we even have women's sports that we fought for for decades and centuries?

Those 6-8 cases were a real thorn in America's side. Whew.

Ever hear of a camel’s nose in the tent?

Kinda like measles starts with one kid in TX and is now everywhere, including DMV area AmTrak and Union Station. The pandemic POTUS is back!

If there nothing too trivial for him to meddle with?

+1 tanked the Kennedy Center. I mean, he promised Cats is coming next season. Now, there is no traveling revival in the works. But, I’m sure some enterprising middle school will do a full run.

There are so many. He’s doing a great job.

I love when he brought Andrew Tate here on a little vacation from prison and then Tate assaulted another woman while he was here. Love it so much. The fertility president is really all in on women - beating them, raping them, taking away their rights.

Exactly. This is the type of upstanding citizen Trump wants to import, while simultaneously ejecting a female Fulbright Scholar studying child psychology who wrote an op-ed.

He has had a terrific start. Even his most ardent supporters like me can admit that, at times, his first term was meandering and unfocused, though unquestionably successful. (For example, before Trump, I don’t think anyone seriously thought that Roe could ever get overturned.)

But if the first two days of the second term are any indication, this is going to be a highly effective presidency. The onslaught of executive orders has been truly a sight to behold. I mean, he revoked LBJ’s Executive Order 11246, which was one of the starting points of affirmative action and discriminatory hiring practices in this country—this was an order from 1965! He appears to truly be working to right many of the systemic injustices deep-rooted in society, not simply tinkering on the edges. (And I am happy about Executive Order 11246 despite being a minority because I don’t doubt my ability to succeed, even on a level playing field.)

This has been truly inspirational—I’ve been glued to my TV and X trying to keep up with it all. What have been your favorite early accomplishments?

If he dialed it back to like a 6 pr 7 from its current setting of 15, a lot of this stuff would not only be palatable, it might even be good for the country.

If he limited his pardon of the January 6th rioters to the ones that had served no prison time or had served less than 1 year and a day, he would still have pardoned thousands of rioters while leaving the truly dangerous folks in jail. Instead, he just pardoned everyone including people who attacked capitol hill police officers.

If he had conducted a deliberate and well-reasoned RIF, I wouldn't be happy about it but elections have consequences. Instead, he just ignored all procedural guidelines and "moved fast and broke things" On the plus side, his disregard for process has meant that the courts have reversed almost all his decisions.

If he had arrested and used even a little bit of due process before deporting all those folks sent to el salvador, I think it would probably be fine.

If he had reviewed federal funding to universities before cutting the funding and shifted the funding from universities that were using illegal DEI and moved them to universities that don't use illegal DEI, we would have seen a lot of funding move from elite private universities to flagship state universities. Not an entirely bad outcome IMHO.

If he had investigated universities for their anti-semitism instead of ex-cathedra declaring them anti-semitic and puling their funding, it would have been better.

If he had been even a little bit more deliberate about funding cuts instead of just cutting all funding and waiting to what effect it had, it would have been better.

The tariff business just confuses me. If he wants to impose tariffs on Mexico because of illegal immgiration and fentanyl, I suppose he ran on those things and that might make sense but the tariffs on Canada seem pretty hard to justify. The tariffs on other countries also seems pretty ill-advised and I don't know if he can keep doing things on the basis that everything is an emergency..

The recklessness, overreach and illegality of this administration's actions negates any positive effects.
