You're not bright enough to understand the ranking. The sad part is not the fact that you're dumb, it is that even after they break it down in simple terms for you, you still can't grasp it and you're still doubling down on your dumbness. There's no hope for you. Carry on... |
Public school parents: if you call Niche BS, then show us proof that MCPS schools are stronger than private schools.
We’ve been providing data this whole time. You haven’t. |
I think there is one pit bull poster who just won't let go. It's sad really to see someone so desperate to hang on to an illusion. If it makes them feel better, so be it. |
Niche also allows you to evaluate high schools within a state. Here is the state of Maryland. As you can see, the rankings mirror the DC area, minus the DC and VA schools. This is a very legitimate and reliable ranking.
https://www.niche.com/k12/search/best-high-schools/s/maryland/ 1. Holton Arms 2. Bryn Mawr 3. Landon 4. Gilman 5. Poolesville 6. Georgetown Prep 7. Rochambeau 8. Whitman 9. Stone Ridge 10. Key School 11. Marriotts Ridge HS 12. McDonough School 13. Churchill 14. St. Timothy’s 15. River Hill 16. Bullis 17. Richard Montgomery 18. Wootton 19. WJ 20. Park School of Baltimore |
I don't buy this ranking because schools can literally "buy" their way up the rankings. Some private schools do and some don't.
But do I believe Landon, Prep, and Rochambeau are better than Whitman? I guess it depends on what you are comparing...but no. And I'm someone who generally believes the private school experience to be superior to the current MCPS experience. |
No. Any school that pays for advertising specifically has the word "sponsor" next to the name. Nice try though. |
Ok...but some specifically submit testing data and lobby parents or students to fill out feedback things if they are happy. Not throwing money directly but paying staff to manage their participation in the rankings... |
That doesn’t happen, but again — nice try. You’re desperate. |
You all cannot compete with MCPS in anything, be it: "it's academic", C-Span contest, Science bowl, and I am not going to even mention STEM competitions where y'all not even worth mentioning. |
The private school boosters are dumb. The ranking doesn't rank private and public schools together. It lists the schools and ranks them either as #1, 2, 3 private or #1, 2,...public. They are not bright enough to understand that. |
I’m not wealthy and my child attends a W school. We bought in 2000 before they were born. I don’t really get the hype. There are good and not so good teachers everywhere. I don’t really have a point of comparison to a non W school. They attended private til 4th grade and we spent thousands on schools that I don’t know (in hindsight) were worth the cost either. Teen child has an IEP so there are classes with co-teachers and they have some accommodations. |
The public boosters who just can't come to terms that only one of their cherished W schools made the top 20 are grasping at straws and trying to debunk a ranking that is black and white in both the listing and in the google search. So desperate to be the best...but they will never be the best. |
It does not say that. It says Holton is the #1 private school; Whitman is #1 public school. The ranking doesn't rank private and public schools together. It lists the schools and ranks them either as #1, 2, 3 private or #1, 2,...public. My goodness why is it so hard for the private schools boosters to grasp that? |
This is a numbers game...but you already proved that you don't respect data, so I won't waste time trying to explain it to you. |
what is a W school? |
