Lol, the corporate bailouts under TARP were in fact loans that had to be paid back. In fact, taxpayers even made money on a lot of them. So yes, student loans should be exactly like corporate bailouts, lol. Pay them back and quit whining.

So naive, I’m sure those billionaires paid back every cent!

Oh you sweet sweet naive child:

Pay back the BS PPP loans you took out and quit whining.

Stupid. The govt intervened in the economy and shut everything down. Your comparison is asinine. And no, I never got any PPP loans.

Unlike worthless college degrees for a Bachlor’s in social justice or gender studies, businesses actually employ people so that they can pay their bills. The govt shutdown their businesses and had to compensate them for their losses. That or else we would have been sent back to the Great Depression. Huge difference when the govt tells you you cannot work.

Want a college education? Take on massive debts, good luck trying to build a future. The US is the only modern industrialized nation where this stupidity happens.

And nevertheless, we have millions of people who want to immigrate here and live in this stupidity. You don't see these large crowds on the border with Zanzibar or Danmark, don't you?

LOL. Who wouldn’t rather go to Denmark than here?

+1. We would all be heading to Scandinavia but they are too strict about immigration.

What? You cannot just cross their border and apply for Medicaid?

Your precious snowflake tax money is not earmarked fir certain causes and it goes toward a lot of things you wouldn’t agree with if you knew about it. So don’t act like some modest student loan forgiveness was some special type of evil. With all of the disgusting war sh!t alone that is funded by tax money, I don’t know why people have their panties in such a bind over this.

Modest? Please define your idea of modest in a dollar amount.

A lot more modest than what we are pumping into Ukraine.

another reason to like the Scandinavian countries. They hire their own children before importing millions of desperate workers to make millionaires richer.

Sounds like you think freebies are the way to attract young voters?

Like the "freebies" given to Republican members of Congress?
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/white-house-shines-light-republicans-are-criticizing-student-debt-canc-rcna44904
"Reps. Vern Buchanan of Florida, Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania, and Markwayne Mullin and Kevin Hern of Oklahoma — who it said had six- and seven-figure PPP loans forgiven as part of a federal program intended to help those harmed by the coronavirus."

Under Biden's student debt plan, borrowers who earn less than $125,000 a year, or $250,000 for couples who file taxes jointly, will be eligible for up to $10,000 in debt cancellation.

I've seen lots of young people who are livid, because they thought that 10k out of their 100k they owe in loans might be forgiven and might help them save enough money to eventually get a house downpayment.

Keep on helping GOP congress critters and forgiving their SIX TO SeVEN FIGURE loans and see how that works out. I mean, there's enough money Mike Kelly (R) had 987k in loans forgiven. That sum could have helped *987* younger Americans who make under 150k a year.

But, no, you just want the money for republicans and for the wealthy. We understand perfectly.

Those PPP loans were designed to be forgiven. Student loans not so much.

So already rich Congress critters (or well off people) get forgiven PPP loans in the seven figures, but we don't have enough money as a country to give struggling newish graduates a break with 10? Ok.

I so agree with this. I don't understand where the outrage was as the wealthy got their PPP loans forgiven???[/quote]

Let me help you out then......

The PPP loans were not for the "wealthy" at all. It was for business owners to pay employees because our government FORCED businesses to close during the pandemic and these people had no form of income. It was to help the workers survive. I would bet that if you asked the vast majority of these business owners if they would have preferred to take the PPP money or stay open, they would have chosen the latter.

College loans are totally voluntary. They are not forced on borrowers.

Hmmm, how about Jared Kushner, Tom Brady, Church of Scientology, artist Jeff Koons, Kanye West, tons of politicians, and a whole lot of billionaires? The lists are public so take a look. Private schools in the DVM got millions and they did not open nor did they need the money as staff was already being paid and they did not lose tuition dollars.

If financial aid, scholarship or parents can't cover your expenses, go to community college and work part time.

Don't assume someone will rescue you from consequences of your bad choices. Make smart choices.

So again, only rich kids can go to college. We see you!

Some parents live way below their means, save less for retirement and more for college so their kids can avoid debt.

Many of their financial peers live well, save less and tell kids to take loans.

Why one group deserves help and other doesn't?
