They can't stonewall the question. All Fraud needs to be investigated. She lives in Maryland. Her car is registered in MD, her voter registration is in MD.

She's gonna get it. A handful of us on our bock wrote Miyares. Lets see what that does. He's not going to take a hit for this clown.

Well they showed proof of residency when they enrolled the child. Write the attorney as a citizen and taxpayer of Arlington County and demand poof of residency if that’s not good enough for you.

They were required to submit proof again a few months ago because of the new HACP process. Should be very easy to check.

Sure you can submit anything
Unless someone is actually checking the submissions and substantiating them then there isn’t anything really being checked.
I am guessing this is the standard procedure for all local school systems since they don’t have time to investigate every single document. Probably something AI trained with public record searches could help with in the future

APS doesn't have the resources to verify every single student's address. They are focusing on 5th and 8th graders - the transition years - right now. This kid is reportedly an 8th grader, right? I don't know the process for verifying; but if he indeed does not qualify, hopefully APS catches it.

If we're here gossiping about it, I'm sure APS has caught on that they should look a little closer at the paperwork for the kid whose parents are demanding $10 million from the school district for a game from Minute to Win It.

Honestly, switching schools would be the best thing for the kid at this point. His parents have screwed him over so badly with this.

Yes, it could be a good option. I suspect the "bullying" from other students was just a few comments in the aftermath, and that now the kids have forgotten about it and moved on (because this is how it's worked in both of my children's school systems)... but apparently the parents are pathologically sensitive.

This poor child. He has to grow up with crazy parents. He has all my sympathy.

I bet the kid is actually bragging to others about his upcoming payout and what he will be spending the money on. I doubt the kid is suffering any bullying.

Why don't you write APS?

I highly doubt that.

Is everyone here basing their residency claims on things they found on google? I mean, if they actually live in MD, somebody lives near them and knows that. Or if they actually live in Arlington, presumably they have neighbors who might chime in to knock down claims that they’re not Arlington residents. Or maybe they’ve been entirely honest with APS and there’s some type of custodial thing that makes what they’re doing perfectly fine. I’m just not sure the links to MD tell the full story.

That’s my question, too. I assume the mom is a total opportunist looking for $$$, but surely someone has actually investigated whatever loophole she’s exploiting, right? I don’t doubt it stinks and grifters gonna grift, but I do have a hard time believing that it’s a cut and dried case of blatant residency fraud.

No. No one is speculating. It was discussed upthread (and maybe deleted since this thread lost about 10 pages) but Keisha and her relatives run a large daycare in Clarendon where many APS kids have gone for pre-K since at least 2010 or so (it’s sometime before that, but that’s when our kid went there). We’ve all known her and her kids for years. She’s nice enough, the boy also (though we knew him at a younger age).

The thing is, no one really cared. Fine, you live in Maryland and use your aunt’s address for better schools. Then, OK, we see you’re also using it for Arlington parks and rec resources (sports, classes, etc.). Fine again. We’ve never been anything but kind, and I’ve only seen the same from others.

But now she’s SUING THE DISTRICT FOR 10 MILLION DOLLARS of our money because Sydney had to play a completely idiotic game with every other kid about sticking cotton balls to your nose? Give me a F’ing break. That’s why people are annoyed. She was always grifting and taking advantage, whatever, small stakes. This changes things.

Anyway, I’m 100% certain she couldn’t care less, this is a woman with no pride, no integrity, no shame whatsoever.

Exactly this. We were at the daycare starting in 2008. Everyone knew, especially since she was VERY particular about where she parked, then the time she hit another car and blamed being tired on her commute (within Arlington??). Her older kid was at TJ. teachers there knew too.

I thought the father lived in Arlington? Though he would still have to be a custodial parent for the child to attend APS.

Ok. I’m 22:42, and I was legit just wondering if it is really that blatant. It boggles my mind that any attorney would attach their name to a case so fraught with ick. WTAF?!
