"Let the good times roll."

You’ve got a heart so big
it could crush this town
I could hold on forever
even walls fall down

Jackie, I'm lost, I said, though I knew she was sleeping
I'm empty and aching and I don't know why

So we cheated and we lied and we tested
And we never failed to fail
It was the easiest thing to do
You will survive being bested
Somebody fine will come along make me forget about loving you

I can't remember everything we said but we said it all
You told me that you wish I was somebody you never met
But baby, baby somethin's tellin' me this ain't over yet
No way it was our last night.

I just love seeing all the Bruce lyrics throughout this whole thread. There's no doubt he's the best song writer of the last 50 years.

While I love Bruce and think he's brilliant, I'm not sure that he's the undisputed best song writer of the last 50 years.

The last 50 years have had some incredible song writers in many genres including Paul Simon, Stephen Sondheim, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, John Lennon, Bob Dylan.

For me, I personally think that Paul Simon is the best songwriter of the last 50 years.

NP. Best songwriter is Bob Dylan, period.

I know it's trite, but I really like the lyrics to Truly, Madly, Deeply. The lyrics reflect the life my spouse and I envisioned for ourselves.

They didn't understand it
And I tried to make them see
That one is only poor
Only if they choose to be
Now I know we had no money
But I was rich as I could be
In my coat of many colors
My momma made for me

(This is the best thread ever. I could spend the entire day listening to these songs, many of which I haven't thought of in years.)

There's more than one answer to these questions
Pointing me in a crooked line
And the less I seek my source for some definitive
The closer I am to fine.

Too many words.

Its like the old Twain quote "I apologize for such a long letter. I didnt have enough time to write a short one"

Also, Elton John is one of the most talented musicians and vocalists, but the lyrics to his songs are hot garbage. Bernie Taupin is terrible "If I was a sculptor, but then again, No" is arguably the worst song lyric of all time.

John Lennon may the right competition for Bruce.

"I thought that I was dreaming, when you said you loved me.

The start of nothing, I had no chance to prepare, I could't see you coming.

The start of nothing, oooohh, I could hate you now. It's alright to hate me now.

But we both know that deep down the feelings' still deep down, it's good."
