What is the meanest thing a partner has said to you and did that change how you felt about them?

My husband one time told me I should do all of them a favor and commit suicide. I've never gotten over that. I still think he's a piece of shit for saying that. He thinks everything is OK because he apologized, despite the fact that I told flat-out a major part of our relationship died that night. And I stay with him because I'm still trying to figure things out. I already have a lawyer.

Where shall I start. Telling me I must be lesbian because I didn't want to sleep with him. Refusing to show any affection at all, or even be nice, for about 6 months to teach me a lesson not to gain weight. Told me he didn't want to have kids with me because I am too fat to be a good mother. Btw, I was a size 14 at the time and 5'8. We are no longer married.

My Dh told me to shut the fuck up last night, but I was being horrible to him and probably deserved it. We had awesome angry sex today though and now we're all good. My only defense for being awful is that I'm PMSing, it's like I'm a different person for a week. Awesome orgasms though.

During multiple fights on the same subject, DH told me he never should've married me, gotten out when he had the chance.

It still hurts and I still think about it, but we have worked through the issues related to that subject and things are much better now than 2 and 3 years ago when he said it.

Overall my husband is not a name caller, but he did once tell me I was pathetic because I told him I needed to run out and buy some food for our sitter. Not sure why that stung so much, but it did. I still think of it 13 years later.

He also once said I needed to be trained like dog training. It was supposed to be a joke, but he said it in front of a friend who sort disappeared from my life after that.

Try angry sex before the fight. Trust me - DW used to have the most godawful PMS. It wasn't easy to get her pants off before the claws came out, but it's been an excellent alternative to a meaningless fight. I used to have a GF who swore giving oral sex alleviated PMS. You might try that. And please let us know how it works out...
